Hi,

Was anyone able to make the "Screen Cast" feature to work with a Smart TV over WiFi? My OnePlus stock Android can mirror, but Pixel 7 Pro with GrapheneOS can't even see the TV.

PS: I have searched through this forum and other web-sites prior to posting this question here.

Do you have the play store with google play service installed?
Edit : I didn't say anything, apparently it depends on the applications according to this post

I just tried to Cast my screen to my Chromecast device and also get "No nearby devices were found."

FYI, All 3 Google Play services are installed...

It looks like it is still not functional. I guess I'll just have to find an app that will suffice...

This won't necessarily work on a Smart TV, but the program scrcpy on a Linux PC will work.

muhomorr I appreciate your input but this doesn't seem to solve anything for me and opens up what I consider vulnerabilities, for instance the fact that the Google Home app wants me to sign in and give it location and nearby device access, which would now all be linked to my Google account that I've done a good job at keeping that data out of Google's hands with.

The Castify app seems to want to work but can't seem to figure out how to get the video to mirror also. VLC player Android has casting built in but the cast icon never appears for me. Perhaps it is my network and not my phone that is having the issue, though I can cast with another phone to either TV just fine, so that really doesn't make sense to me.

I do use a VPN but I have local network discovery on so that shouldn't be an issue. Lots to troubleshoot but I'll report back once I've completed the process.

I am considering trying a fresh install of GrapheneOS since I seem to have bugs sometimes that other people don't.

I have tried so many different things and it did not work. no devices visible. However from a Windows 11 PC I can screen cast instantly.

Would be great if anyone can share step by step instructions.

I use a Displaylink monitor and the Displaylink Presenter app to mirror my phone screen onto the monitor. Works well for me. Much more secure than giving a (less secure) PC extensive privileges over the phone by adb/usb debugging.

Its also possible to get Displaylink hubs to which you can connect a monitor

Displaylink presenter uses the casting functionality built into AOSP.

Ive been documenting my experiences over at -

I have casting to Chromecast working. But you need to login to Google

          • Install the regular Google tools via GOS Apps
          • Enable Network and Nearby devices for Google Play services and Play store (not sure if this is mandatory)
          • Install Google Home app.

Login to a Google account is mandatory to get it working.
It works for Netflix and Videoland (mandatory for the wife ;-) Have not tested with apps but it'll probably work.

BTW if you create an empty profile (Settings > System > Multiple users) with only these tools installed, Google only collects the bare minimal.
