The 80% charging feature seems to be bugged now on the Pixel Tablet. It will keep charging to 90%, even with the feature activated. My guess is that it's trying to reach 100% for the calibration, but it can't reach it because it's limited to 90% elsewhere.

Duct9143 Maybe 90% is the new 100%. Your battery could have 90% capacity left, and if you keep the tablet doing its thing, it will finally set this 90% to 100.

Read something here how it will take some time before the device is done calibrating.

that's not what's happening on my phone at all, so it's not this. There's always been a 90% limit on the Pixel Tablet, even before this option even existed. So in my opinion, it is highly likely that there's a bug.

Try to charge it to 100% via the usb cable. If you're using the dock it will only go to 90% and it will not calibrate. After you've reached 100% with your cable it will stop on 80% when using your dock the next time. At least thats my experience with my tablet.

So I charged it to 100% using a USB cable, then let it drop below 80 again, put it on the charging dock, and again it goes to 90% and stays there, even though the 80% option is activated. I think I will just wait this one out until it is fixed. There has to be some buggy interaction with the 2 different charging limits on the Pixel Tablet (80% limit, and the standard 90% limit when charging through the dock).

My tablet (latest stable release) charges to 80% as per settings. Apart from the 100% callibration charge after the update I get the shield icon and it stops charging at 80% each time.

For reference, I use the stock google USB cable and a Belkin 30 watt charger wall plug. I do not have the dock so am unfortunately unable to make a direct comparison.

That's the difference though. You're charging through a USB cable, not through the dock. The dock applies a 90% charge limit. A recent update has made it so that Android's 80% charge limit setting does not work anymore when putting the tablet on the dock. It will always charge to 90% (correct me if it doesn't do that for anyone else).

My tablet stops at 80% when charged on the dock. First time i charged it to 100% with the cable and waited for the shield icon to appear.

Duct9143 It's not buggy, this is how it's currently intended to work and matches the stock Pixel OS. You aren't letting it charge to 100% so it's not recalibrating and reactivating the limit. The Pixel Tablet dock has charging capped at 90% since launch and it's not yet integrated with the charging optimization feature so it will stop it from reaching 100% to recalibrate. Pixel Tablet dock special case is a separate thing which is not integrated with this yet.
