  • App supposedly installed on a user but cannot be found in any app list

Has anyone experienced a situation like this where for the owner profile its says Not installed for this user but the app is also 100% NOT installed for any other user? I believe it's something to do with a previously installed app, but it still doesn't make sense to me.

The package in question is called ru.tech. imagesizeshrinker

s41_graphene It does mean that another profile is using that package. You can check your profiles for the app, including checking for disabled apps in those profiles. Note that the Private Space also counts as a profile in this regard.

s41_graphene unless I'm mistaken, that's Image Toolbox. Try going to the owner profile, go to settings > apps > all apps > then tap the 3 dots in the top right corner. You can display all apps. Find Image Toolbox, then tap the three dots at that screen to uninstall for all users.

fid02 its not which is why I stated its 100%not. I even delete all profiles.

Furthermore, I believe its from an app called "Image toolbox" but the strange thing is I uninstalled it. So that package mentioned shouldn't be present. The app icon also doesn't match the original app. And also the file size doesn't match the original app.

What's the chances of the app being malware and hiding itself In some way.

I've always checked via adb BTW and the package is not found.

other8026 Image tool box was installed months ago so this app shouldn't even be present.

Plus like I mentioned its not installed for this user apparently and there's no other users since I deleted all due to paranoia.

s41_graphene did you check the all users list? You've verified it's not in that list?

Some people have toggled off multiple users/profiles but the profiles weren't removed. You can also try enabling multiple users/profiles again to see if any profiles remain and also check the all apps for all users list to see if it's listed there.

And, as usual, you can try a restart when things are acting strange.

Never mind, I discovered that when uninstalling the app it optionally allows user to cache data

s41_graphene its not which is why I stated its 100%not. I even delete all profiles.

From an outsider's perspective, it's not always clear from a post exactly what has been attempted. It's helpful for anyone who tries to assist with a technical issue, before suggesting further troubleshooting steps, to know which exact steps have been taken. For instance, not all users know that disabled apps can be viewed from Settings > Apps. Some users might only check the app drawer.

              Glad it worked out.
