After update that came up today the phone now suddenly restarted twice on 2 separate occasions. Before, everything was fine the system was stable but after that update it seems like something has gone wrong. Is anyone else having same experience on Pixel 7? Is there anything I can do or check to prevent that from happening?
GrapheneOS restarts after updates on Pixel 7
I have a couple of Pixel 7s and neither has had any issues with the latest update. Is there any chance that you've modified your auto reboot settings recently? You can verify under Settings > Security > Auto reboot
I have that set for 24 hours, the reboots happened while I was using the phone. Once on Spotify and second on signal call.
Mwk In that case, it may be worth jumping on the Matrix server. You're much more likely to have a real-time chat with at least some members of the dev team.
mythodical could you please send me the link to this?
Mwk You bet!

If you mean that after the update the phone automatically rebooted, then I think what you're looking for is under Settings -> System -> System update -> Automatic reboot

spiral true, it could be that too. I'm pretty sure that my phones only reboot the once after updates though. I thought maybe they had enabled or modified their auto (idle) reboot settings under security.
No, none of that was switched on. At the moment this phone is unusable and it reboots all the time, doesn't matter what I am doing on it.
Mwk were you able to get any suggestions from the matrix chat?
Nope, I reinstalled GOS again now and I will see how it goes. I hope this was only some bug not the hardware related issue. I searched here on forum similar topics and I saw someone else reporting similar issue 1m ago with 6A. This person was told to get some logs from the system, I tried to do that but the phone was unusable - I tried to open Settings/Spotify/Graphene OS app didn't really matter what and the phone was freezing without even being able to go into settings or open the app. Now the phone is fresh again and it seems to work, I wasn't downloading anything dodgy, so it couldnt be malware or anything like that. I will continue to play with it during the day and see how it will behave.
Update, the phone just restarted again on a fresh Graphene OS :(

Did you disable automatic reboot after update as Spiral already suggested?
It is enabled by default, so check it. If you keep it on, it would behave like this no matter how many times you would reinstall the system.
Yes, this setting is off same as the other one. Phone now starts to freeze on top of that even after reinstall so it doesn’t have anything to do with these settings I guess.
Are you aware of any tools that will run through the phone up and down and check the hardware components whether they are all good as they should be? I am within the 14 day period so I can go to shop and they will swap it for a new one if the phone is faulty. I think that the latest update might be an issue as the phone was working absolutely fine prior to this upgrade that happened yesterday. But I need to understand where to search for the fault, if this is the software I will flash the version before and problem solved.

In settings - security there is a second option related to restart: Auto reboot. You can check, if this settings is not by any chance set too strict.
Otherwise you can use adb log cat, and check if there is anything unusual. I wouldn't install any unknown app which would promise to check hardware issues, even though with an app like that, the random reboot could become just one of your many-to-come-problems:-)
If you are almost out of time and out of options, you can install stock Android and check if the problem persists. That could help to find out, where's the issue
Than we can analyze it further.
Hi! Is there any news on that issue? I am getting a Pixel 7 at the weekend and wanted to use GOS. Should I use version 2022111000 instead until the issue is solved?

sugseg52 I have a couple Pixel 7s and haven't experienced this myself (or any other issues for that matter). I think that if it were a widespread issue the community would be hearing a lot more about it by now.
Mwk Given the newness of the phone, and the return window you are facing, if it were me I would re-flash stock Android straight away and confirm whether the reboots are occurring under that as well. If they are, return it. If they aren't, you can then decide how much you want to troubleshoot the issue.
