  • Best notes app to use regarding privacy

For high sensitive notes which app(s) are the best? And which do you use?

Would be awesome if:
-Easy to edit
-Has option for multiple maps
-Widgets
-Cloud
-Password option

Markor has been my go-to for years. Open source, excellent markdown writer/reader and other formats. It supports cloud apps and file encryption but I've never used either of these features so I can't comment on their performance. It does work very well with Syncthing though, which I would choose over the cloud any day. It also respects existing folder structures, rather than forcing your notes into a database or other confined structure.

Standard notes is my go to for quick notes.

    • [x] Easy to edit
    • Has option for multiple maps
^ unsure what you mean by multiple maps? Look into Joplin perhaps
    • Widgets
^ unsure if "highly sensitive note apps have widgets, could be wrong though. You'll have to experiment yourself. Standard notes doesn't (just looked on my homescreens widget list options).
    • [x] Cloud
    • [x] Password option

Standard notes is free, e2ee, and open source. One is able to purchase extensions. However, there are alternative ones or alternative ways to get the open sourced ones directly for curated awesome lists on GitHub.

As in title, the word BEST is frequently used incorrectly instead of what is most appropriate for one person's use case. In other words what might be considered best for most is not necessarily fit for everyone or particular individual.

+1 for Joplin. Can be easily selfhosted. Any WEBDAV server would work.

goskm75f definitely has the eye-candy I'm looking for. Self hosting it is pretty... let's call it "mid". No documentation, figured it out on my own in about an hour of work. It seems pretty complicated backend-wise, I don't know if I like that. Gonna stick with Joplin for now I guess.
