  • Android Auto: 1) Organic Maps not displaying, 2) Customize button not working.

Hi:

pixel 6 on its last legs, and I am test driving grapheneOS before I migrate to my new pixel 9.

  • Pixel 6, Android Version 15, GOS Build number 2024121200
  • Android Auto is 13.2.644464-release
  • Organic Maps version 2024.11.27-9.Google

This is one of two issues for me:

I am using android auto in my Owner profile, and following this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/GrapheneOS/comments/1954v7e/setting_up_android_auto/), (get to developer mode on android auto, enable unknown sources) and am able to get most of apps to show on my automobile screen. Two problems persist:

  1. organic maps is not showing up on the automobile screen. The android auto settings to customize launcher dont show it either. There is a Version and Permission info in the bottom of Android auto additional settings that shows that it has recognized "Organic Maps" as on of the packages, with the right version. I have tried "turning it off and turning it back on again", restarting bluetooth, reconnecting, etc. no luck.

  2. The launcher has a "Customize" button that shows up on the automobile screen, but any time I tyr to select it, it says, "cannot be used while the car is in motion", even when I am at rest. What is the button looking for about the car that I need to be aware off...

    You need to install Organic Maps from the Play Store, not anything else. It will work then.

        I installed the google play version using aurora store.

        Same issue, and the play store version is 2024.11.27-12 essentially a new OM release,
        So wondering if this is an OM issue.

            kvaradhan3 Banking apps usually don't work unless they were installed specifically via Play Store (not Aurora). Maybe that's the same case here too.

              They very clearly said:

              You need to install Organic Maps from the Play Store, not anything else.

                kvaradhan3 From the Play Store, not Aurora Store. Organic Maps needs to be listed as installed from the Play Store for it to appear in AA. If you install it from Aurora Store, this will not be the case.

                          gerpi Oh - got i working after installing update ;-)

                            gerpi Install it from the sandboxed Play Store. Android Auto checks the install source.
