Works perfect..... I only have noticed one error. Bluetooth doesn't switch off as usual, but I'll have to test that again

    I usual joke about when release but i have been manually tapping check update for a few hours now and nothing is downloadong. The releases page say stable is oct 8 but not available?

      Stephan-P when in alpha/beta sure but now it should actually be released. I can tap on the zip to download it so it's there but updater not seeing it manually tap check

        Stephan-P Somehow, for my P7a in the Netherlands it takes a while longer before I receive the stable update. And there it is. Rebooting now.

            It would seem that 'Tap to check for updates' does not affect the automatic update process that much

            gosrox Stephan-P You have a misunderstanding about how the releases work. You think the release announcement means that the release is in the Stable channel when it doesn't. The releases page a listing of which releases are in which channel and the update client is also a reliable way to check. There's no delay between a release being pushed out through a channel and it being available to the update client. It's a misconception you've developed based on thinking that our production releases immediately go to Stable. Each production release goes to Alpha, then Beta and finally Stable. We do not have separate Alpha and Beta releases. Those channels are simply a way to get the production releases earlier. The releases may have issues caught in testing leading to the release being cancelled and replaced. It's very rare for us to cancel a release but it does happen, and part of the reason it's rare is because there isn't enough public testing and reporting.

            Please read https://grapheneos.org/releases#about-the-releases and https://grapheneos.org/usage#updates. If you want to see what's in the Stable and Beta channels, you can see that on the releases page. The release announcements do not indicate something is in the Stable channels.

                  GrapheneOS are you going to do ne same for the android 15 release ? If possible, I'd wait more time before installing this one, cause its a major update (with major customization) and the probability of bugs are greater. I figure from your comment that there are no staged rollout, and as soon as 15 is available, everyone will get it.

                  Do I need to manually disable the auto update and auto install feature for a while, if I want to wait like 2-6 weeks for the stabilization of android 15?

                      Reason9 All updates go through Alpha and then Beta before Stable. Updates never go directly to Stable. The goal of the system is doing something similar to Google's staged rollout system for the Pixel OS updates but with people opting into the earlier access instead of randomizing who gets it. It depends on having lots of people opting into it and reporting regressions.

                          GrapheneOS depend on having à lot of people opting in alpha and beta, and from past experience, it's not the case. Once 15 reach stable, its going to be deployed to 99% of all users at the same time on day one ?
                          Also it seems like I can't disable automatic update 😿. I'll just hope it's going to be all right.

                              GrapheneOS I understand the staging process perfectly well. That's why I was suggesting some patience.
                              Having said this, I do think that it would be helpful to understand if a rollout is in stage alpha, beta or stable. The Info app would be a perfect place to communicate this.
                              If one knows his own staging option (from Settings) AND the stage of the rollout, then we could have less questions like "why is my device still not updated?"

                              Also, and this is why I shared my update here, in my experience it may take 2-3 days until the stable update reaches my phone. Understanding this, may also temper expectations about faster updates.

                                  I think it's extra maintenance for something I can't see being useful for, the update always goes through the Alpha channel first, always.

                                  You choose between the Alpha, Beta and Stable channel in the settings and you'll get the version that matches, some users use the Alpha or Beta version because they're hoping either to report bugs or because they don't feel like waiting, and other users prefer to stay on the stable channel.

                                  I think it's very correct and of course it depends on the situation, whether bugs have been reported or not.

                                      There is currently https://grapheneos.org/releases#stable-channel and https://grapheneos.org/releases#beta-channel so you can see what release is in those channels for each device.

                                      We might be overhauling those sections soon so that there's one unified "Devices" section that shows all 3 channels for each device at once, so you can see exactly which release is in which channel for your device.
