There is currently https://grapheneos.org/releases#stable-channel and https://grapheneos.org/releases#beta-channel so you can see what release is in those channels for each device.

We might be overhauling those sections soon so that there's one unified "Devices" section that shows all 3 channels for each device at once, so you can see exactly which release is in which channel for your device.

Stephan-P I think most users are well aware that the announcements do not suggest that the update has reached the Stable channel; not sure what that was about in the other reply.

Having said that, I do think it would be beneficial if announcements from now on have a note at the end saying that the release is in Alpha and will take some time for users on the Stable channel to receive them. It would clear up many unnecessary comments about why their phones weren't updated.

      It's highly recommended to leave automatic updates enabled and to configure the permitted networks if the bandwidth usage is a problem on your mobile data connection. However, it's possible to turn off the update client by going to Settings > Apps, enabling Show system via the menu, selecting System Updater and disabling the app. If you do this, you'll need to remember to enable it again to start receiving updates.

        yore an issue with saying there's a new release in the alpha channel means that later when the release is moved to beta or stable all of the release announcements would have to be updated. The change that matchboxbananasynergy mentioned might help reduce some of the confusion people have when there are new releases.

        With multiple devices, sometimes releases aren't all in the same channel, so that makes things more difficult when that happens as well. But considering that, updating the Info app to include that information might be more difficult than one might expect.

            What I had in mind was something along the lines of:

            Note: Stable channel users will not receive this update immediately. Updates must first go through Alpha testing before quickly moving to Beta. It may take up to [preemptive time frame] as of the date of this announcement before reaching the Stable branch.

            But I understand if this doesn't sound to work out well.

              May I suggest adding a phrasing in the standard release text to clarify it? Something in the lines of "This version is now available to alpha testers and will be made available in the Stable channel in the next days" might help.

                GrapheneOS in your infinite wisdom and not wanting to admit you are wrong about releases. In this instance if you actually read my message the releases page said 1008 was in STABLE I am not talking about alpha/beta where you keep incorrectly calling releases released when they aren't. In this case the release was already in STABLE, I could click the on the link to download the 1008 zip but the updater didn't see it for 5-6 hours.

                    Honestly I don't see why the release cadence is so hard to understand. I read how it works with alpha > beta > stable one time and understood that because my phone is set to stable, that there will be a turnaround time from when the project posts the thread and when it actually shows up on my phone. I literally now see the post and think to myself "Cool, I'll probably get the notification to update tomorrow." It's not that serious.

                      Did you manually select 'Check for updates' from within Settings > System > System updates? Otherwise the default automatic update check interval is used by the system (which is 6 hours. Source.).

                        gosrox the website uses the same data as the updater app to determine which releases are in each channel. So, there must be some other explanation.
