Has anyone installed this yet is the new pixel 9 fold? How are you finding it compared to stock?

Some people have. @evalda mentioned that they had in our testing chat room, so maybe they can provide their thoughts here.

redfoxjumper Like @matchboxbananasynergy mentioned, I am using GOS on Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Can't really compare it vs stock as I haven't used it on stock but it works very well on GOS, I like the inner screen for reading articles, PDF docs or any other content that doesn't flow well on smaller screen. The hardware fingerprint sensor on the power button is very nice, I like it better than the onscreen sensor.

Not sure why but comparing to other Pixel phones including Pixel 9 Pro XL, the scrolling experience and touch gestures on the Fold feel much smoother when using the outer screen.

      evalda Good to know, thanks!

Is there a 'swipe up to continue' feature in AOSP? The stock OS will have a message when you fold the device to keep the app you had running unfolded, on the front screen

redfoxjumper Yes, you can continue on the outer screen whenever you left off on the inner screen after you fold the phone.

I just switched from GOS on the original Pixel Fold, which was great. It works just as well on the new 9 Pro Fold, if not better. I'm amazed they got this up and running so quickly.

I’ve been interested in a folding phone and phones/OS with privacy in the forefront of the user experience.

I just found out that GOS is recommended for The Pixel Pro Fold. So now I think it’s the best option out there.

Any advice before I bite the bullet?

Static As long as you can ensure that you buy a device that can be unlocked so that you can install GrapheneOS, you should be good to go. :)

Despite being a more "niche" and expensive device, it's supported on GrapheneOS to the same extent as other devices, so no need to worry about things not working due to its form factor. We have people on the team who daily drive it too.

Does anyone know if I purchase the Verizon variant from the Google Store, if the bootloader will be unlockable to install GrapheneOS?

I'm loving my 9 Pro Fold with GOS. I'm using my phone more, unfortunately. If you're trying to lessen your dependency on a device, skip the Fold, lol. I find myself primarily using the inner screen because it's such a better experience than using my old Pixel 7. Unfortunately, lots of apps aren't designed to take full advantage of the screen real estate. And if you're an old fart like me, you'll be battling (and losing) display scaling and font size on the dueling screens.

I really wish I could set these preferences on a per screen basis.

Hi. Does split screen with two apps open at the same time work on grapheneOS on the fold 9?
            thanks.

Jeffgtx yes. Basically every single folding related feature/setting you find on stock will work on GOS as it's all built into AOSP.

Awesome. Thank you. I am getting comfortable with GOS on an 8a to see how it works for me but would ultimately like to go to the fold.
