I am thinking about upgrading from my pixel 7 to the pixel 9 pro. I watched a lot of YouTube videos already but most are about AI stuff and I don't care about that.

Besides MTE, what are the things you noticed as a grapheneOS user that make it worth buying? Do you notice the better camera and battery or the 16GB RAM?

I read the ultrasonic finger print reader is much better than the optical one.

No idea how it compares as I am still using my P7 :-) (but mte and better finger print reader are kinda tempting)

FunnyDuck I am in the same boat myself (have p7 and am thinking about p9p. For me, the fingerprint, better screen, MTE, better cooling, and better battery life are very tempting. plus the camera

    Thanks a lot guys!

I think I will try it and if I don't think it is worth it I will just return it

Has anyone tried the new "AI features" in google photos under GOS? e.g. the "reimagine" feature, "add me", etc

tommi Not OP but I would wait and see how the Pixel 10 lineup is. It will have not have an Exynos-based chip anymore which should make it perform better and be more efficient. If the lineup does not meet expectations then you can just get the Pixel 9 Pro at a discounted price.

This! I'm waiting for the Pixel 10 Pro. I hope the battery is user replaceable but it probably won't be.

Barring that I'm hoping for better battery life and faster charging.

tommi I realized my P7 does everything I do just fine and I probably wouldn't even notice the upgrade to a P9 Pro (I rarely take photos and that's the only thing I would notice).

So I stuck with my P7 and wait for the P10 or maybe even P11. I'm probably upgrade the moment there is some new future that I need or my P7 gets slow in some work flow I do. 🤷‍♂️

I don't have any complaints other than it looks like a fugly iPhone. It is my first Pixel and I wanted to try GrapheneOS specifically. The camera isn't as good as my s23 Ultra and neither is the screen. The colors are not anywhere near as vibrant as the s23 Ultra's screen. If T-Mobile didn't have a oreorder price of $999 for the 512GB Obsidian one. I would not have bothered. They are not $1000 devices! Maybe $700 tops.

I will stay with the 6a until that gets EOL and the first important CVE is out.

Then some phone that is not overpriced and not as huge as the 7.

Btw, do you know which fingerprint sensor the 4a has? It works soo much faster and with no false negatives. I dont get why they switched away from that, now pretending they would make an improvement.

This is my plan too. I use a 6A and size makes the phone unusable at times and I rarely use my phone and when I do, it makes it a pain. 8 is a tiny bit smaller than the 6a but I haven't tried it in person.
