I currently use a Tile Pro on my eBike - to help with theft mitigation.

However - Tile is quite limited in finding items.

There area couple of trackers (Chipolo is one) - that uses Googles Find My Device network... it is a pretty significant upgrade over Tile's limited network...

I am assuming that if I enable 'find my device' in Google Play Services - that there should not be an issue activating and using a tracker tag like Chipolo on my GOS device???

Fully understand the privacy issues - so I'm open to other solutions that fit the 'stolen bike - use case'.

No. I've read somewhere "Find My Device" network won't be supported, from the point of view of scanning, on GOS.

I'm assuming it requires lots of wrapper code for little gain, so it was considered not worth the time and effort.

On GrapheneOS, FMD (Find my Device) seems to work fine for Smartphone tracking, but getting the new FMD Chipolo/Applebee/Moto Tags to work is a different story :-( Using a non-GOS phone you can add the tag to your account, but you'll only be able to RING it and not LOCATE.

It looks like FMD and the OEM tag specific apps are not allowed access to bluetooth scanning.

I use airtags and a seperat ipad air.... I think i don't want to use these things on my GOS Device :(

    I can't seem to find a GitHub issue for this, unless I'm not looking hard enough.
    Would it be worth opening a GitHub issue for FMD scanning so we can track progress/see an official answer from the team?

      Can this please be considered? There currently is no good alternative to these new trackers with UWB support and it's a pain to have to use another device to link these to my account. I can still ring them but not locate them. At least the ability to check if their nearby would be appreciated. It's currently not possible to set it up using GOS.

      Ordered a Pixel Watch 3 with UWB support. I hope to be able to use that to track my Moto tag on FMD.

      Yes I too just got 4 Moto tags which I'm unable to pair to my phone.

      On a related note - they seem to require pairing via 'fast pairing' -- which also seems to be non-operational on GOS.

      they most annoying part is, I could have sworn I got one to pair when I got it out of the box - I backed out because I thought I'd like to link it to another account and have since been unable to pair. I was only paying half attention so maybe I'm imagining that it paired...

      I feel like perhaps the right settings in the right places could resolve the issue, but so far I've had no luck

      Pixel Watch 3 with UWB support does not pickup my tags either. I was hoping FMD would run standalone on WearOS5 but it still relies on my GrapheneOS phone :-(

      This is likely a shortcoming of Google FMD and not GOS.

      Hey everyone,

      After last GOS Android 15 update and/or GMS related updates by the GOS team, I can confirm this now works on my side.

      Moto Tags in Find My Device can now be located and tracked.

      I also noticed a toggle 'allow bluetooth scanning' alongside WiFi scanning, that may have already been there, so make sure to enable.

            Whatnoww Correction: my tags can be tracked now, but unfortunately not paired. So we still need a 2nd non-GOS phone to pair and link to a google account.

              What do i need to change to have it working? My Second Phone has my Chipolo ONE Point added but i cant let it ring nor locate on my GOS P7. I have the Play services with following permissions: Near devices, Location (always).

                Shrunk836 Location doesn't need to be enabled for Play Services. Find My needs nearby devices enabled.

                    Could someone please share their config for getting FMD to accept shared trackers?
                    I've got Find My Device installed, it can track my phone, but when a family member shares their tracker with me, FMD says "Device sharing is not available on this device".
