Issue
I have recently swapped my Pixel 6 for an 8a, knowing the 8a build is still in its prerelease stage.
I have had no issues so far, except a mild annoyance, which is that I get the "Play Store needs to update Play services - It's recommended to allow this. Tap to proceed." notification every day, regardless of what I do.
When I tap the notification, it just opens the Google Play Store front-page.
Details
I have already looked through the following topics, but none of the suggestions solved this for me:
- https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/1850-update-of-google-play-services
I have allowed Google Play Store to "Install unknown apps" via "Allow from this source", but not "Allow access to Android/obb folder". Other permissions granted are "Network" and "Notifications". Modify system settings is not allowed, I am not sure if that is relevant. I didn't touch the exploit protection settings.
Checking the Google Play services' "App info" shows only an installation date (May 25, 2024; 20:46) not an updated date.
Google Play services version: 24.15.17 (190400-626366329)
Google Play Store version: 41.2.21-31 [0] [PR] 636997666
OS build number: 2024051600
Channel: stable
Is there anything I could/should do about this as a user at this point?
Maybe there are some other permissions or settings I should try resetting?
Edit: I sadly cannot compare settings between the 8a and 6 anymore, as I sold the 6 already.
