At the moment (2024), for Android, Brave browser is the only browser to automatically deal with cookie consent pop ups. This means I'm no longer harassed by these annoying pop ups while surfing the Internet!

In some Firefox forks on Android, like Mull and Fennec, this functionality can be added by installing a plug-in (extension) called 'consent-o-matic'. However, adding extensions to Firefox (forks) makes it much easier to fingerprint users, and so from a privacy perspective, I understand this is not recommended.

I would prefer to use Vanadium browser over Brave or Firefox (forks). However, I refuse to be harassed by cookie consent pop ups for every website I visit. They are simply too annoying!

I sincerely hope Vanadium browser will soon implement automatic handling of cookie consent pop ups, like Brave browser does, and the consent-o-matic extension for Firefox. Until then, I will settle for Brave, Mull and Fennec.

I mean, uBlock Origin can do this with its Cookie Notices filters (and maybe the Annoyance filters too?). This should technically also reduce fingerprinting comparatively because most users will use uBO instead of whatever that extension is. Of course, ideally keep as close to default filters as possible if anti-fingerprinting is a goal.

Dumdum I didn't know Ublock Origin could do that too! It's the only other extension I use in both Mull and Fennec.
Still, I would prefer to use Vanadium browser over Firefox (forks), if only the repetitive cookie pop ups would stop annoying me.

Dumdum Most users don't change the default settings such as opting into non-default filters. Users who do change the settings are likely going to change more than one value. The list of filters and their version is easily fingerprintable.

GrapheneOS Is there any chance Vanadium browser will incorporate this feature in the future? That would be so awesome!

Unless the app / extension / browser clicks the reject all button for you before deleting the box, then are you not just allowing the site to dump whatever tracking crap it wants? At least with the box you can be certain the option has been made. Unfortunately this doesn't always include "legitimate usage", which requires a manual action.
How many sites per hour are you dealing with to be so frustrated?

Yes. The cookie control popups are frustrating, but they're exactly that: control. There is no way I would risk any automatic acceptance.

While it's less secure, I stick to firefox anyways. Extensions like video background fixer are just too useful to ignore. uBlock Origin gets rid of a ton of annoyances, including the endless supply of the ones on reddit (app prompts, blur filter, etc,) and the google login prompts are on basically every news site now. A lot of mobile sites these days basically give you a choice of being more easily tracked or having a deliberately crippled user experience.

PaulDavis If this cookie consent blocking feature would become part of Vanadium, I'm sure the developers would make sure it would reject all possible cookie consent permissions, including 'legitimate interests'. I would trust Vanadium with this kind of feature way more than Brave or Ublock Origin!
