Screenshot not working anymore (Power + vol-down)
- Edited
If I understand the OP correctly, he wants to take screenshots of the home screen and an overview of his apps, among other things. The solution you mentioned works for browser's incognito mode.
Murcielago Hello Murcielago, I can also take a screenshot of my home screen with this setting.
For the past 10 to 15 years or so we make screenshots with the power button and volume down button. This does not work anymore.
Now, I installed a proprietary app called super status bar to circumvent the limitation for now but it has extreme rights.
To me, the solution you linked to, reads as if enable incognito-screenshot
has the sole purpose of enabling to take screenshots of browser windows in incognito mode, which may otherwise be disabled. Am I missing something?

Pizzaboy, what is the make, model and OS of the device having this issue?
Same here. No screenshot option with press of power button + volume down button on Pixel 6 Pro. raven-factory-2024040900
It's working here on a Pixel 6 latest release, I assume the hardware buttons themselves work fine otherwise? Are you trying to take a screenshot in the owner profile, or a secondary one?
I tried again to screenshot the home screen with a press of power button + volume down button. This time it worked.
I'm having the same issue on Pixel 8 Pro, latest stable GOS release. It worked fine on my last Grapheme phone, a Pixel 7. But now I cannot trigger the screenshot shortcut, nor the silence shortcut (Power
+Vol Up
), which also used to work
...nevermind, I rebooted and now both are working. Weird.
hemlockiv of the 3 buttons, choose the square, as if to see all open apps. At the bottom of the screen is a screenshot option
This has been happening frequently to me recently. I always have to restart the device to get back the ability to take screenshots via vol down + power. Pixel 8a, currently on build number 2025011500. If anyone has any further information on how to fix this without having to restarting the device, I would be glad to know.
The phone doesn't even have to be running a long time. It happened to me again on 10 hours uptime after and update today.

Bit of a longshot. Do you have animations disabled?
