I'm a very happy user of GrapheneOS on a Pix4a since about 18 month and so I bought 2 brandnew Pix6 a few days ago. One for my wife and one for me.
Last night I wanted to get GrapheneOS on my 'kinda coral' and thought to do it the Web-install way.

Everything went well, until the "Flash release" step, where it did all it's steps until right at the end, where it displayed an error message on the web-page - which to my utter embarassement,I haven't captured.

On the Pix6 I got the 'fastbootd'-screen, where I selected option 3 'Reboot to bootloader'.
I then got a screen (Pix6) saying "The bootloader is unlocked.... Visit this link on another device: g.co/ABH ..."
After pressing the Power-Button (several times) I got yet another screen saying "Your device is corrupt... Visit... g.co/ABH".

Finally, my Pix6 is pretty warm (even hot) and on the black screen there is 1 gray icon showing a loading battery. No button-push works and I am totally stuck.

If I remember correctly, I did my Pix4a 18 month ago the same way, which worked fine. Although in a different environment for sure. Then Macos, now Ubuntu 20.04.

I would very much appreciate any help - thank you.

If you used the web installer for the whole process, your device is fine, simply try again.

I can't even stop or start the device - it's just pretty hot, sits there and simply displays this grey battery icon. Doesn't react to any key-press.

Doubletwin Try pressing and holding the power button for at least 10 seconds. That should shut off the phone. Then you should be able to start from scratch and do the web install again.

alex Ill briefly describe what I do on the PIx6 :

      1. Pix6 displays the grey battery icon
      2. press and hold the power button for 30 to 60 seconds
      3. Pix6 displays this screen: "Your device is corrupt.... "
      4. Press power to continue
      5. Pix6 displays this screen: "Your bootloader isunlocked..."
      6. Press power to pause
      7. Pix6 displays white Google screen
      8. after some time screen reverts to grey battery icon and device gets hot

If I connect the Pix6 via USB to my Ubuntu 20.04.4 and ask for 'fastboot devices' I get nothing back - my computer doesn't see my Pix6. During none of the above steps 'fastboot devices' sees anything.
This is a typical Catch-22, where the two devices need to see each other but have no means to do so.

Doubletwin You need to hold the power button for the required length of time until you get a buzz to denote device restart and as soon as you do, before the corruption message you need to hold VOL- with the power button to get it back into the bootloader.

Once in the bootloader you can start again. You shouldn't be touching anything on device in the fastbootd screen. It is likely you have a defective cable and or port causing the issue. A non full USB standard compliant cable/port combination CANNOT communicate with the device at the low level of fastbootd.

Best install method = stock C-C cable using one GOS or Android device to another. Use the 4a to flash the 6. Avoid the computer.

MetropleX OK, thanks to all of you. I will try as per your instructions, also the pix4a-to-pix6 direct flash.
How does my pix4a need to be configured - anything special?

Unfortunately nothing changes even by using the stock C-to-C cable.

          1. On the white Google screen I do long-press Power
          2. white screen blanks awai and I immediately press Volume-down (never got a buzz)
          3. Displays "Fastboot Mode" with Device state: unlocked, with Option Start and Vol-up / Vol-down to select menu-entries : for now don't touch Pix6
          4. Connect stock USB cable to Pix4a and to Pix6
          5. What now?

On the pix4a I see : Charging connected device via USB, tapp for more options. ... ?

            Doubletwin

On the pixel 6, make sure you're in Fastboot
Mode (bootloader), and on the p4 you don't have to change any usb setting (the flasher will see it as long as you are using Chrome on PC or Vanadium on Pixel 4a). It will say "charging connected device" - that's ok. Just move to the chrome browser and begin the flash process.

Whenever you get stuck on the pixel 6, just hold volume down and power (no matter what you see on the screen), until the phone boots into Fastboot Mode. You can get to this screen no matter what is happening on your phone (as long as it's charged and not plugged in).

So now that you're in Fastboot, connect it to either your PC or Pixel and flash it again. Remember that the chrome on PC or Vanadium on Pixel 4a is required (and ensure you're not in incognito/private mode).

If you still get the corrupt message, go into recovery mode on the p6 and do a factory reset (you'll see 'no command' - that's ok, just hold power and quickly press volume up). Then pick wipe/reset and flash again.

If you're still stuck, go back to stock (flash.android.com) then re-flash Graphene.

Just remember that during the flash process, the phone will restart into fastbootd - make sure to not touch the phone during this time until the flash process is complete.

Hi everyone, I finally have had success - thank you so very much for your help!
I feared I had my not cheap brandnew smartphone bricked before it ever became a GrapheneOS-phone.
The hint to do it and how to do it using my GrapheneOS-Pix4a was Gold. My own little morsel: Both phones batteries best be loaded fully - the processis pretty power-hungry.
So, thanks again and good night.
