splattergames or per-network randomised instead of per-connection to avoid leaking your device MAC which cannot be changed.
MasterOfMysteries Even the keyboard cant be removed.
MasterOfMysteries Is there an "official" way to allow my apps as default?
If you don't mind me asking, are you aware of what DirectBoot is? Also, what keyboard app do you want to use instead of the AOSP keyboard?
MasterOfMysteries ADB was to avoid these types of replies, but not much I can do about it now.
MasterOfMysteries I understand that it isn't advised but I want to know why.
These types of replies are telling you the reason why it isn't advised.
This discussion goes into it quite a bit as well as some input regarding electron by Daniel Micay. I would like to hear thoughts on it.
I ask because I want to know if using the Proton Mail electron app for example would be better than using Proton Mail on the web.
hello11 Should we just create a throwaway google account to get all of them ?
Yes.
hello11 Do people think we should move away from stores and centralized ways of getting apps ?
Not really, this is currently the situation we are in and it isn't particularly secure. Centralized stores are the most secure options.
hello11 Development seems slow.
The developers of Accrescent are not currently looking to get as many apps as possible on their store but rather focusing on more backend stuff like the developer experience and ensuring the app is stable. Give it time, it is still in pre-alpha.
hello11 I still don't really understand why the project doesn't recommend obtanium + appverifier for first install.
Although it is a solution that works, it is not convenient or easy for non-technical users.
hello11 Is this with or without appverifier ?
This is without app verifier.
hello11 Is appverifier verification inferior to accrescent ?
Accrescent automatically does what AppVerifier accomplishes rather than you having to do it manually. You also run into problems when the AppVerifier app database does not have the hash for an app you are installing, so you cannot verify it. The developer of AppVerifier has said that the database is planned to be depreciated once Accrescent becomes stable as there would be no point to using AppVerifier if you get all your apps from Accrescent anyway.
hello11 We shouldn't trust the appverifier database ?
You should trust it and use it whenever possible if you are installing apps from a source outside the Play Store or Accrescent.
hello11 Also, are the VPN leaks fully fixed ?
Not yet, there are a few leaks remaining.
The original poster has clarified that WiFi calling was off.
joegoe1029 i also have wifi calling off,
Can anyone confirm if this issue still exists? I turned off DCL via Memory and DCL via Storage for SimpleX, which previously always resulted in a crash, but it is not crashing anymore.
Edit: nevermind, DCL via Storage crash occurred again.
joegoe1029 Just to clarify, it was an SMS text message right? If so, consider opening an issue in the GrapheneOS issue tracker so the developers can investigate.
tomz Accrescent aims to have both closed-source and open-source apps available in the App Store. Qlango is the first closed source app published on Accrescent and that app has Google analytical libraries. This app does not violate any of Accrescent's app review policies and so it was allowed on the store. In the future, it is planned for Accrescent to have a tag to differentiate between closed-source and open-source apps.
Eagle_Owl When I asked the developer Evgeny, he told me that SimpleX does not support 'DCL via memory'.
It doesn't support DCL Storage either if DCL memory is turned off. If both DCL toggles are set to off then the app crashes, if only one of DCLS or DCLM are on, no matter which one, then the app functions fine. I wonder if the developer is aware of this.
NetRunner88 I believe this is unnecessary for the device GrapheneOS is installed on
How come?
Carlos-Anso Ah I see. What I meant was to prevent an app with the same signing cert in the same profile having the same Android ID after reinstallation then.
GlintBuzz Stuff still gets enabled by accident, especially when traveling and the thing is bouncing around in a bag or pocket.
You can remove the Quick Tiles for WiFi, Bluetooth and Airplane mode from the Quick Access menu to prevent any accidental taps. As Quick Access is available from the lock screen, this can prevent accidental taps turning one of the radios on. I doubt accidental taps would enter Settings and then toggle on WiFi/Bluetooth otherwise.
GlintBuzz Just don't want the options available in the OS.
I don't think what you want is available.
GlintBuzz Thinking of something like Rockbox
Not familiar with it but it would be better to use something available natively in the OS rather than something reliant on a third party.
someone27281 No, if the Private Space is locked then Google Play Services will not be running.
someone27281 Does Google Play keep running even after I lock my private space?
No.
someone27281 How much access does it get to owner profile and the apps installed there(IPC and such)?
No IPC with owner profile. The clipboard is not isolated (yet) between the Owner profile and the Private Space though, GrapheneOS team is working on adding a toggle for it.
someone27281 Can Google track me if I provide permissions like Phone, Sensors and Location?
Yes.
someone27281 What are the differences from using it in a seperate user profile? Is it worth (any) privacy advantages?
No privacy advantages, the Private Space is just more convenient to use than a secondary user profile.
