My number in my systems settings is incorrect but the number I actually own can be called and answered on this phone. How can I change my number in settings to the correct number?
How do I change my mobile number on grapheneOS
INeedHelp2 This sounds strange. Do you recognize the number that you see in Settings at all? Have you tried texting it or calling it? Does your phone receive calls/messages to that number?

When I called the number which is currently unchangeable in my settings (I called the number at About Phone>Phone Number) it came up as invalid almost immediately. I gave it an SMS and it went through with no other questions.
I then called the number I should have as my actual number and there was no invalid number message, I hung up and was told I missed a call, then SMS also came back through after I sent it as it would when I send/receive from myself.
If there any more useful info I can give then I'll try find

Can you describe your SIM setup? Does the phone have a physical SIM card? Does it have an eSIM?
de0u physical sim, swapped back over to it after a vacation just today. The vacation sim was also a physical sim but it didn't have all my contacts.
INeedHelp2 If you don't believe you have an eSIM, but there is one on the phone (did you purchase the phone used?), you could try deleting it: Settings, System, Reset options, pick "Erase downloaded SIMs". Obviously be careful about any/all of the Reset items!
If the issue is an unwanted eSIM, you could try deleting it and rebooting.
@INeedHelp2 Does that number still show up when you remove the SIM card?

Yea it comes up with the same number, my phone was bought fresh with my older sim. but there's some good news.
I've just done some other call/text testings with the family and friends and stuff is alright in that regard, the number I want is older anyway so they know it first.
I have one question about profiles for grapheneOS, I know there's an option that shares the mobile number or its data between profiles/users. Would I be able to answer calls the same way if I'm on a different profile if the system number is still the one I don't want or is that all dependant on the number my contacts know to use?

Do you know how/when the wrong number arrived?
Was your phone number changed sometime after activating the SIM?
