my wife and i both have pixel 6 pros, she is using the stock os and im using graphene os,
id always get a little bit better battery life (mainly because i shut things off when im not using them) but it was never great. a update came down last week , and shes now getting over double the run time of me, and her phone isnt getting hot whilst running programs.

i wonder if they have limited the cpu to increase battery life.

Hmmmnz I don't have any real details, but I read the AOSP team did a lot to make the OS more efficient (or something like that), so everyone who upgrades should see improvement. There've been users on this forum who've said that their phones' battery lives have gotten way better since upgrading to Android 14.

Maybe your wife's phone's battery life hasn't improved because her phone hasn't been upgraded to Android 14 yet?

Hmmmnz do you have google play services installed?
I saw a post on here a while back from someone who said he was getting better battery by running play services vs. running without (aka default Graphene)
I wonder if its something to do with the adaptive battery stuff that's part of play services.

The way I read it, he said the exact opposite: his wife's phone did get an update and now has run time twice as long compared to his phone

yeah, sorry, my wifes battery life with android 14 is way better than mine on graphene os.
atleast twice as good as mine now. which is a stupidly massive improvement.

In my experience, battery life is hard to compare. Sometimes I have 50% battery left after about 16 hours and sometimes I have 20%. I think it depends on how long I am connected to WiFi, how good the coverage is and how often I use the phone. If I answer a lot of messages and calls, the battery life is much worse than if I leave the phone alone for a few hours. If the phone is left unattended over the weekend, two days of battery life is still possible. I generally use the phone without any play services, with Signal, FairEmail, Threema, Conversations and KDE Connect running all the time.

Edit: Android 14 (P6a) improved my battery life in general. A rough guess would be about 10-15%.
