What Calendar App is best on Graphine?

With the native calendar app disabled on GraphineOS, I'm looking for suggestions on what calendar app everyone is using and what the best option would be to share a calendar amongst family members that doesn't give up all privacy (I'm looking at you Google Cal)...

I've got Nine installed and it works fine for exchange and work email/cal but doesn't talk or play nicely with Proton Cal at all plus in all reality if you've moved from an iOS or Android the cal experience isn't comparable.

Frankly...I'm tried of overbooking or getting last-minute notices from my better half on an event that was on her cal for a week but because we cant share cals anymore (we both use GraphineOS now) its not making it to my schedule until 12 hours before...

If you want to share a calendar, you probably need some kind of online calendar provider. I'm not aware of any local (offline) calendar app that can share the calendar. Tutanota, Proton, and Etesync have an end-to-end encrypted "shared calendar" feature but they're all paid.

[deleted] I have a paid version of Proton...However, their calendar really stinks. For example, sharing doesn't work half the time, and any invite that comes from a Microsoft account .ics is marked as invalid and you've got to manually download and re-upload on a PC to get the event on your schedule.

E24 The other issue with Simple Calendar is they wont accept any exchange account. So I cant put my work email on because it only allows IMAP/POP.

invalidemail That's why it is called "Simple" Calendar. I don't need to share on GOS 6a and I have a Pixel 6 with Android 14 only for work where I just use Google calendar. I go for personal privacy with GOS, and work requires so many things like Google Meet, Google docs, etc. I just use Android and the NSA and advertisers can data mine what I do at work, which is pretty boring. I do have Signal on the Android only phone, as well as Proton Mail, so I can make secure calls/texts/emails off it.

MoonshineMidnight Completely understood. I think you might have missed the context of the original post where I'm specifically looking for a shared cal option for GOS for family sharing. That is all I was pointing out with simple Cal and I have 7 dif cals I manage for various work/clients making the calendar option very challenging with GOS. I'm curious about your comment, are you using two different phones or are you using two user profiles (one without Google installed).

ETAR does look promising though. I've got to test out a shared cal on it but its much better UI than Simple Cal or Nine.

invalidemail Two different phones. I have a GOS 6a for anything and everything personal I do. I have a Pixel 6 running stock Android for work as the company uses Google apps for multi-party stuff. I won't allow that on my GOS phone - even on a separate user profile. And thankfully my biz phone is my own and does not have a company app so they can't see what I do, but I realize all the info is being scarfed up on it by Google and others, so I keep it strictly business (which is basic, boring stuff - not at all like a lawyer/client, doctor/patient) except with safe apps like Signal and Proton Mail on the stock Android.

Of course, for sharing, you can use davx5 with any caldav provider, including self hosted. Then use simple calendar or etar as a client.

Sorry to bring this up, I am looking for an offline alternative for a calendar app. I will be using it offline (no sharing) and I have only one requirement that I can export the events as a backup. I have been using Simple Calendar but that has changed hands and going forward I can't continue with an app without updates (future of its fork is yet uncertain). Apart from that I only heard of Etar but that won't let me export events as I would like. Does anybody know of any less well known (preferably FOSS) offline Calendars that would suit my purpose? Thanks in advance.

I'm using aCalendar.
I've bought the ad free version on my old stock Android phone, on GOS I use the free version with a block for the integrated ads.facebook.com tracker.
The functionality of this app fits simply perfect to me.

I have proton unlimited so like using their Calendar. Getting my wife and daughters to switch to that from.iOS cal is impossible so I imported the iOS family calendar into my proton cal so at least I see what they have scheduled
