Hi, I'd thought I should write down some of the issues I've faced today regarding the new Android 14 release of GrapheneOS:

My phone: Pixel 6a

UI/UX:

  • Navigation crash: Back/home-swipe crashed after opening the stock Messages app. This also caused the settings app to crash later when trying to use the back button (top right in the settings app).
  • Background image and colour pallet stopped working: The background reverted to black, and colour pallet was reset. The settings app crashed when trying to change it.

Music playback:

  • When using Qobuz (a privacy friendly streaming app which let's you pay the artists extra): the phone stops playback off offline tracks because of Mobile data settings. It resumes when you shuffle or play the song again. Only a problem when playing over Bluetooth to a Ford car with Ford sync Bluetooth functionality. This far it seems to work fine on my AirPods.

Phone:

  • The phone app crashes if you park a call, then lose reception (WiFi-call)

Passkeys:

  • Doesn't seem to work at all. The website identifies the OS, and browser compatability, but you can't set it up (Vanadium)
  • Is not detected inside compatible apps (apps that I wanna sign in to) [1Password is correctly identified and loaded as my PassKeys manager]

Profiles:

  • Seems to fuck everything up (more then usual)
  • Apps don't load properly
  • Network connection is lost and sometime repeatedly "crashes" after a new profile is loaded
  • Maps and navigation apps seem to be unable to load properly after switching profiles (HERE WeGo mainly)
  • Bluetooth is turned off automatically on my main profile, but remains on if I switch to my second profile.

If I find more I'll write here

yeah, all of the above and especially switching between profiles, it makes the phone unusable.
