As you probably know, when you hold the power button one of the options is lockdown. This feature has a few flaws, first of all, if you have the VPN widget enabled you can swipe down and turn off the VPN without unlocking the phone. Additionally, you can also stop active apps without unlocking the phone allowing you to potentially stop say a audio recording app or a VPN client allowing unprotected data to continue over the current connection. This can be mitigated by enabling the Android block connections without VPN feature, but this still allows someone with physical access to the device to disable it's connection to the internet without logging in. This is fairly minor overall, but I think it should changed.

papyrus9914 Lockdown mode is an upstream feature from AOSP. The only effect that I'm aware of it has is to disable biometrics from the lockscreen.

papyrus9914 user profiles. Any secondary or any other profile is not able to fully disable internet only the main owner can. This also works for hotspot You cannot turn it off from a secondary profile, you cannot turn it on either That must be done from the main user.
And someone please correct me if I'm wrong but this should also work for VPN

N3rdTek I'm not sure how the block connections without VPN feature is implemented. I only use the master profile personally.

papyrus9914 It also hides media controls and any notifications. Not just the vague reddit or Fair email notif, but entirely hidden.

Ah yes of course, thanks for the reminder!

That's incorrect: if you try to toggle VPN or almost any of the quick tiles from the lock screen, including all other network settings, you'll be prompted to unlock your phone.

The only quick tiles which can be toggled from the lock screen is Do Not Disturb and ones that relate to display settings, like Night Light.

I can disconnect and reconnect my VPN with the quick tile of IVPN from the lock screen, wether on lockdown or not.

[deleted] Interesting, I hadn't tried with IVPN before, it seems to be something specific to their app. I am not able to toggle the ProtonVPN quick tile from the lock screen, nor any of the other quick tiles from apps I have installed on the device. I wonder why IVPN allows that.

treequell don't forget about the glorious flashlight toggle :D

treequell I can confirm that the IVPN toggle works from lockscreen and the Mullvad toggle does not. Definitely weird from them to allow it.
