Greetings everyone! I am new to privacy and GrapheneOS and I have in my hands a Pixel 4. I was finding mixed information, so can this phone use GrapheneOS?

klei2002 It's still possible to install GrapheneOS on a Pixel 4, but the device is end of life and therefore only on extended support.

If you'd like to try out GrapheneOS, you could give it a go, but I would not recommend using it as a daily driver, since it can no longer be considered secure.

I would suggest replacing it with a Pixel 6 or Pixel 7 series device.

For more information about device support, please read: https://grapheneos.org/faq#device-support

Mwgg The price of the 7 series should go down when the 8 series is released next month. And honestly, from what I have seen of the 8 series, it doesn't look like it's all that much of an improvement over the 7 series.

router99 From what I've seen, the Series 8 will go up by around €100 in France...

router99 Google should really keep a low-end model like the 4a and keep it at around 200€ and get rid of all the wireless charging, the fingerprint sensor under the screen... Everything that is useless to 99% of people like me.

@treequell Thank you very much for the replies, If lets say I really want to install GrapheneOS on this Pixel 4, is the installation procedure the same as other smartphones: Go to the web install with the phone plugged and do what's requested step by step?

klei2002 Yes, you can use the web installer to install GrapheneOS on your Pixel 4. As long as the Pixel 4 is on extended support, that will remain possible. The installation process is the same as the other supported devices.
