Is there any reason the pixel 8 pro would not be supported? I'm thinking of getting one but I don't want to if I can't install Graphene on it. I understand that it would take a while after it comes out to support it I'm not expecting it to work day 1 or anything. Just curious if I'm wasting my time with it and should get the 7 instead because that is already supported.
Pixel 8 Pro support?

The 8-series will be supported. It's just a matter of how soon the developers can get their hands on the devices after they release.

That is a strong statement.
What if -- to widespread surprise -- something odd happens? What if all 8 Pro devices refuse to OEM unlock for three months?

de0u That is a strong statement.
How is what I said a strong statement when it's based on previous Pixel smartphones having been supported?

I'll try again. What if -- to widespread surprise -- Google decides not to release source code for some critical part of the Pixel 8 Pro? If something surprising like that were to happen, then a prediction based on what happened for previous devices could turn out to have been based on an infirm foundation.
I think we expect Google to do what they have been doing recently, and we expect the GrapheneOS developers to quickly port GrapheneOS to the 8 series, but "The 8-series will be supported" sounds more like a promise than like an expectation.
