Sandboxednoob changed the title to GMSCompat Not Updated .

Sandboxednoob I am using SparkOS. There is No GMScompat available in there latest ROM. So I am using Feb 2023 version in which gmscompat is Available. Since from Feb I am just updating "gmscompat config". "GmsCompat" is needs to be updated or is it okay to use that old one Gmscompat for that Version.

Please note that I do not speak for the GrapheneOS project.

Without knowing about the internals of SparkOS or why the SparkOS maintainers might have decided to remove the GrapheneOS Google Play compatibility code and configuration, I doubt people in this GrapheneOS forum can advise you.

It seems plausible that at some point updating the config file without updating the code will lead to trouble - and it also seems plausible that updating the GrapheneOS code and config together without updating SparkOS could lead to trouble.

Here are some suggestions for actions I suspect are less likely to result in trouble:

  • acquire a used Pixel (5 or newer, arguably 6a or newer) to run GrapheneOS
  • look into whether DivestOS is supported on your hardware
  • ask the SparkOS maintainers for advice for migrating away from the GrapheneOS Google Play compatibility system that they no longer support

Or perhaps you could become sufficiently familiar with the GrapheneOS Google Play compatibility code base to maintain it for SparkOS or a fork of SparkOS.

It is possible that there isn't a simple path forward from your current situation.

Sandboxednoob Consider reading This Twitter thread by GrapheneOS Official account. MicroG also had a bug where It was leaking user's Google account password (Only when signed in, of course) to logcat

Sandboxednoob so what do you think should I use Sandboxed Gapps or MicroG

I don't think I am in a position to advise about SparkOS. It looks as if there is a SparkOS channel on Telegram. Have you sought advice there?

de0u maintainers are very rude, they will not add support for GMScompat. Do know why?

I'm afraid I'm not aware of a basis for speculation. Also, I think it's best when this forum can avoid disparaging comments about open-source volunteers.

Sandboxednoob In response to your message in the other thread, I'm moving this here to keep the conversation in one place.

If you would like to use GMSCompat on SparkOS, you would need to build and maintain your own fork of SparkOS. Simply installing the GMSCompat app as an APK is not sufficient to then be able to run sandboxed Google Play Services on that OS.

treequell okay, but I can't build ROM...
So I think I have to request to that rude maintainers. I am sure they will deny the request. Sad Life..

treequell one maintainer build voltageos for me, with latest Gmscompat, so can I use that for 7-8 months, with upcoming "configs" but without updating the Gmscompat. should I use The Current Config , Gmscompat , and current playservices.

Or not updating Config is Okay?

RandomForestGump If VoltageOS is thinking of using the GrapheneOS system for sandboxing Google Play, maybe it would be productive for one of their developers to chat with the GrapheneOS developers on the GrapheneOS development Matrix channel?
