Lukas I found a problem. When I press Install App to install a PWA, if I press add to home screen, it doesn't add a shortcut to home screen. I need to press and hold the icon, then place it on the home screen manually.
treequell Lukas I can't reproduce this issue. When I tap Add to home screen, the app gets installed, and the icon gets added to the highest available spot on my home screen .
[deleted] treequell I think "Add to home screen" and "Install app" result in different behaviors. I don't remember which is which but the behavior Lukas is referring to certainly exists.

Graphene1 Lukas lol I thought that the other month, realised they where installing on a different home page screen 🤣 If you don’t have the option to install make sure you’re not in private mode.
treequell [deleted] I can't reproduce this issue with either 'Add to home screen' or 'Install app'. For me, they both add the icon to the home screen as expected. It would be useful to understand how this issue can be reproduced before asking the developers to look into it.
[deleted] treequell The issue is that a PWA need to be installed as a dummy app (instead of a home screen shortcut), and Chromium forks (including Vanadium) don't provide a implementation for that Chrome installs a dummy app for a PWA by asking Play store to do it (since it normally holds the INSTALL_PACKAGES permission), But other apps can't ask Play store, so they need to do it themselves.
Lukas treequell For me it doesn't work. I have to hold and place it on the screen manually. You might have Google Play Services installed, this could be the reason.
[deleted] treequell I also could not replicate it at this time. Install app (installing PWA) and Add to Home screen (adding a shortcut) work in similar ways. 'Add to Home screen' allows both clicking 'Add to to Home screen' as well as gesture (touch and hold to move it around the home screen). But once or twice I encountered a shortcut where only touch and hold worked.
treequell [deleted] That's off-topic for this thread. And in any case, PWAs like Twitter still work when installed using Vanadium, though it's true they lack some of the features compared to when installed through Chrome.
treequell Lukas Doesn't seem to be related to Google Play Services. Installing web app, and adding icon to home screen works for me both on user profiles without Google Play Services installed, and those with them installed.
Lukas [deleted] You can't just install Google Play Services. It comes with Play Store and Google Services Framework. If he has Google Play Services then he also has Play Store.
[deleted] [deleted] Actually both 'Install app' and 'Add to Home screen' seem to allow for just clicking on a button as well as dragging it around one's home screen.
Panda-na Just to check: If you long press an empty field on your homescreen and press "Home settings" on the pop-up. Is the "Add app icons to home screen (For new apps)" enabled? It sounds like this is the issue you are describing. I haven't had any issues with installing PWAs 🙂 Edit: Typo
