Haven't gotten around to inquiring till now, but is it normal behavior to have GMSCompat running almost 24/7? What could or would potentially cause it to run and have no "Stop" button under Active Apps?

f13a-6c3a do you mean the features page? A link would have been valuable and more helpful as unless I overlooked it the only thing on the faq even related to GmsCompat is Google services page regarding features. 🫤
Even then, yet another link to the usage page.
Fwiw this is equivalent to asking for directions to nearest gas station and just pointing in a direction with nothing more said or done.

On my phone it does not run ("No battery use since last full charge ").

Since it is part of the sandboxed Google Play system, if you installed that and have apps using it then it will run (often).
Since it shouldn't be running unless requested, I'm not surprised it doesn't have a "Stop" button. It's a system service, not an app.
N3rdTek GmsCompat is the compatibility layer developed by GrapheneOS that teaches Google Play Services to work within the normal app sandbox. It is a system app and its permissions should not be changed. If you don't have Google Play Services installed, then GmsCompat does not do anything. If Google Play Services are installed, then GmsCompat needs to run all the time.
treequell updating Gmscompat is Required or Not.
Cause I can see only "Gmscompat config" have updates in Github.
For "Gmscompat there is No any Update In Apk File Format"
Sandboxednoob GmsCompatConfig is a configuration file, not an APK. It's kept up-to-date by the "Apps" app.
