I just got a Pixel 7 last week and installed Graphene OS I use an app called RealTimeChat for TTS when I stream IRL on Twitch I've set all the permissions needed for the app and it works save for the TTS I'm guessing it's not able to access something that Stock Android would have

Argo Have you set-up the TTS in Settings > Accessibility > Text-to-speech output?

There is no Text-to-Speech under Accessibility There is Screen Reader : TalkBack It's suppose to read items on screen Turned that on and no voice reading the screen There was just a text selection sound and a green box around it

I also get no voice with Audio : Audio Description Also no voice description of what is happening on the screen

Okay, a bit of searching around on here and found that Voice Services by Google helped some Installed that Testing the voice in the settings works Though still not voice in the app

Argo There is no Text-to-Speech under Accessibility

Scroll down to the very bottom, it's the last item in the Accessibility menu

      • Argo replied to this.

Argo Ah, apologies, I thought you'd already installed a TTS provider. Google Speech Services is one such provider, it should work fine with that.

Nope, no voice in the app still but other speech functions work

Argo You could check you have whether you have the downloaded the offline voice data in Settings > System > Languages & input > Gear icon next to Google Play Services. The menu there gives some additional options to the one in Accessibility.

Also, have you tested another app that uses text-to-speech? For example, any app which does live turn-by-turn navigation.

I just tried a few TTS apps from both the Google Play Store and F-Droid All the apps worked in speaking text

The best Text to Speech app on F-Droid is RHVoice if you don't want to use Google's implementation.
