I have Telegram and Whatsapp with Contact Scopes enabled. When I want to message a new number from Whatsapp, I must first add a contact. That part is straightforward. But I still can't message that number, because it's not in the right scope. So I need to open the Contacts app, navigate to the relevant tag, search for the new contact, and add it to the tag. Now I can return to Whatsapp, find the contact in Whatsapp, and finally write my message.

This could be avoided if the contact editor had a way to add tags directly. When adding or editing a contact, it should be possible to add tags right there. Would this be feasible to implement?

it seems to me, that whatsapp does not notice the new contacts when i modify the contacts scopes (add a contacts by specifying a label). the way to force whatsapp to notice it is to disable whatsapp and enable it again..

andrej567 I sometimes find WhatsApp takes a little while to pick up new contacts, I believe because it has to re-read your contacts list. If I want WhatsApp to hurry up, I close the app from the recents screen, and open it again from home screen. WhatsApp seems to read contacts on app start-up, so my new contact will then be shown there.

You certainly shouldn't need to disable and re-enable the that app.

treequell I tried to close app and reopen but it did not help. Also tried the Stop, in app-info.
I'll check it once i'll have new contacts, the situation happens rarely for me.

If I could get rid of whatsapp app would be better.. but there is one for work and one for friends.

andrej567 What I do is to go to the write new message screen, and whem selecting a contact, you have an option in the top right corner (three dots) to refresh the list. This has always done the tric for me.
