Hi there, so since I am looking for apps and recently installed Obtainium, can you recommended me some app on github or such to use on Obtainium?

Cheers

    gonzalo Hi,

That's rather a vague question as there are many and hard to answer without knowing a few minor details.

Perhaps if you may please share what it is you're interested in doing so others here may step up and make suggestions based on what works for them and their experiences with said apps.

      akc3n fair enough, let's say:

      • reading news
      • reading manga
      • security in general
      • lunchers
      • multimedia stuff like players or image editors

Hi there, I generally use Google Play Store as my primary app store, but I do prefer some of the apps available on GitHub through Obtainium. It is an ever changing list, of course, but below are ones I'm using currently:

Hope that helps. I think credit here is due to @matchboxbananasynergy for introducing me to all of those apps!

          I love ReadYou. Solid recommendations!

          @gonzalo
I think it's by far the best ux/ui rss reader and works really well. Modern materialyou design and just superb in comparison to anything else.

akc3n already installed and exported my newsboat feed and indeed amazingly good!

            akc3n ReadYou

I prefer Feeder. Moreover, it is on Play Store (and GitHub ofc). I do not understand the hype with Read You haha (even after trying). Both are great.

For money management, I like Paisa (from the team behind RetroMusicPlayer).

Prognoza is good for weather. But Rain is on Play Store also and is nice looking too, if you prefer

I also recommend Aves, which is insane, even better than Google Photos for me
And Organic Maps, Aegis 2FA, Unitto (calculator and unit converter), Loop (to track habits), Etar calendar and LibreTube (for YouTube), which are all open source and on GitHub I believe.

There already is a thread for apps recommendations.

[deleted] I like both. ReadYou have based a lot of their work on Feeder, I believe. I use both Feeder and ReadYou and have different feeds on each app. One feature I really like on Feeder is the block list.

                [deleted] nice thanks!

Do you know how to make google camera open the gallery through aves? because it ask for Photos...

                Your welcome
                You can't.
I believe there is a possibility with Gcam services provider but it is not recommended because you won't be able to install it on two profiles, I believe (but there might be other issues idk)

akc3n What I did not like about Read You is that it doesn't show the news on the main page. You need to either click on "All" or click on the individual news source. In comparison, Feeder shows all the news on the main page from all the added sources. So, I can just open the app and keep scrolling through the news but on Read You app, I need to click on "All" in order to see news.

[deleted] After testing all the weather apps available on Fdroid, I have finally settled with Rain. The UI is amazing. By the way, does Aves lets you remove EXIF from photos? I am using Simple Gallery app and it lets me select hundreds of photos at once and remove EXIF from them at a single click.

Yes, AVES can remove metadata of several pictures at once.
It can erase Exif, XMP, Adobe JPG, Comment, Ducky, ICC Profile, IPTC, JFIF and Photoshop data.

[deleted] Aves Gallery can be installed from Accrescent too (the best app store available on Android, though only whitelisted apps are available right now).

One more thing worth mentioning is that the GrapheneOS camera app removes all the metadata by default, but you can toggle that off in settings if needed.

It also automatically removes all the metadata from screenshots, which too can be disabled in settings if needed.

                    a year later

Anyone have the links add wireguard app and brave browser?
