Screen replacement fingerprint sensor not working

Hello. Dropped phone and replaced screen using ifixit kit. I recommend this as its a good service.

The fingerprint sensor doesn't work now as I expected. The QR that came with the kit is asking me to go to https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com

I have seen its a google site. As I'm allergic to google things I'm wondering if anyone has any workarounds or advice.

I actually like the fingerprint sensor a lot and use it.

No workaround, you have to calibrate the new fingerprint sensor to the phone and that is the only way to do it - you dont have to go back to stock, can do it while on GOS

f13a-6c3a OK. Thanks. I was just thinking tho. Can I swap the fingerprint sensor from old screen? Would that help?

f13a-6c3a I tried to connect phone and recalibrate after assessing the fingerprint scanner removal. In the end I can't recalibrate as the version of 'android' is not supported apparently. Anyone else have this issue or can share how they have managed to recalibrate recently?

James I did that a while back on P6P and it worked - not needed to calibrate. It's a real pain to remove the fingerprint sensor, use a lot of heat, and patience

James calibration is done in fastboot mode and you need appropriate drivers for your computer OS, Android version is irrelevant. Instead of attempting to have Google calibration tool reboot your phone into fastboot, do it yourself - boot in fastboot, then connect to the PC (make sure phone is recognized by the PC), then run calibration (you might need to try multiple times for it to succeed)

On my Pixel 7 the pixelrepair tool in Chome complains:

Your device's current software version:TQ3A.230901.001 is newer than this repair tool has.

Maybe just a matter of waiting?

Not sure if it matters, but some folks suggest that you also have (re)enable developer mode and USB debugging. That made no difference for the above error though.

It seems the process changed a little bit in recent days, since I last tried…

I went to https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/udfps which asks me to enter Fastboot mode, but doesn't require rescue mode. You then press install and it reboots. GrapheneOS starts.

But then when I try to add a fingerprint it complains of a timeout. I then did another reboot (which the installer also seems to suggest is needed). And then I was able to add my fingerprints!

sjors I made an account just to thank you for this, Spent hours on various forums looking, going into rescue mode to try and calibrate it with the tool, and enabling USB debugging, installing android USB drivers etc. etc. and nothing worked. Came back to check on this thread and this worked perfectly for me. Thank you so much.

I apologise for not reporting back also!! I thought I had but I didn't. Basically I tried a few different approaches but couldn't get any to work. I installed drivers for my phone on my PC and all was recognised. I then went to the repair website and tried again. No luck. Exited and rebooted and tried again. No luck. Gave up. Now I have some new hope tho!! Will try a gain now
