  • Pixel 6 bricked after strange issues? Any help?

Hi there,

Had some weird issues where when I went to unlock my phone, it was upside down. When I would put my finger on the "displayed" fingerprint sensor - the 'real' sensor would light up (which was on the opposite side of the phone as a result of the upside down display)

Anyways when I finally got it open by holding the displayed sensor, and the actual real one at the same time, it told me that some process had crashed - I can't remember the error and regretting it now of course.

I decided to restart the phone - just held the button and hit restart.

However, now, the screen is totally blank, when i press power on I get a vibration feedback but nothing happens.

Pixel 6, running GOS without any other issue for the last month or two.

Any ideas?

Same just happened to me today, I have been using the phone for the past 2 months ok, today I restarted the phone, after 30min I pick up the phone again, (no drops) screen is black, phone is vibrating. not sure why it happened

I have the pixel 6 pro, I feel its mostly a hardware issue, as I restarted and into bootloader but its still all black. quite disappointed at google hardware, I have had samsungs , never have had hardware issues, but I see such threads about black screens everywhere, I moved to pixel on my daily just to have better AOSP custom rom support, feeling bummed

CyberPotato I had the same problem right after the last update (TQ2A.230505.002.2023050100): black screen and vibration when pressing the power button. Finally, after a few minutes my Pixel 6 rebooted. Since then, everything is ok!

Try holding power button for 1 minute to force the device to restart.

So this original problem is now fixed but the phone is very much still behaving unusually.

Whenever I restart it it takes many minutes - 2-3 minute hang on the grapheneos logo screen.

The touch screen seems to be going wild, if I pull down the dropdown menu, random buttons just get pressed - torch goes on, bluetooth activated and deactivated etc. I can't swipe up or use any gestures. It's really very odd.

Can you re-install grapheneos without losing any data? I know the backup software isnt in a great state - I tried a few times unsuccessfully to make it work. So just wondering if I have to start from scratch.

for me my issue was a little different that @BroJogan, mine was hardware issue, and I had to replace phone screen, now I am back, mine was not OS related

      if its relevant @f13a-6c3a
on Pixel 6 pro: my display settings are default resolution 1440p QHD+, I have smooth Display on to automatically raise to 120Hz. I also had ambient lockscreen display (showing clock on)
