  • Phone stuck on GrapheneOS starting screen.

7dutch What was the last time it was working well? What has happened since?

Providing more details may result in more-effective advice.

7dutch First of all, try restarting the device and see if it gets stuck again. If it still gets stuck, try a couple more times.

If after that, it still doesn't boot into the OS, then you can sideload the OS using the instructions here:

treequell Thank you for the reply. Found this file for the pixel 6a bluejay-ota_update-2023050100 is that what you mean. My phone is a Pixel 6a. I am not clear what it does and/or if this is the simplest way and safest for the phone. The phone is still without files. So if there is another way that is safer, it is to prep. The screen now keeps moving on logo so does not stand still. Restarted multiple times

de0u Thank you for the reply. My phone is a Pixel 6a. The phone is still without files.

      the bootloader,rescue mode etc.

Honestly the Matrix channel will likely provide the most-expert advice, as @treequell suggested, and they might be able to not just get you going again but also collect data about what happened.

That said, if the phone has no data you care about, personally I would try "factory reset" before sideloading an OTA image, if only because it's easier and faster. But that will work only if the problem is in the user-data filesystem; if the problem is in the system side then I believe only an OTA image or wiping the device entirely would work. For me the recovery mode menu includes "Wipe data/factory reset", so if you can get into recovery mode and really don't mind wiping your data you could try it.

de0u I did the wipe data/factory reset. Phone boots up like a new one and had to reset everything. But it does work and did a check through auditor and it was good. Thanks for your help. I'm still curious about treequel's answer regarding data preservation if i use his way.

7dutch If wiping the user data brought it back, an OTA sideload might well not have. How likely, I don't know enough to estimate.

7dutch Glad you're now able to boot into the OS after a factory reset.

The release sideloaded would have preserved your user data.
