Is it planned to add a feature for the messaging app to quickly mark an sms as read?

Currently, I can only reply or tap the notification but I can't mark is as read.

Quickly marking a sms as read is useful for all short messages that don't require a reply like when using sms as a second factor, or a simple "OK" from someone.

It's not really that important but I'd consider this really basic.

I just realized that it also doesn't have a dark mode. I don't use sms that often why I didn't even realized that.

Is it planned to expand the features a little or will it stay like the aosp version?

In case it'll stay, is there another recommended app for sms? simple sms messenger? I don't like using signal as sms messenger because once I send an urgent message and it didn't go through because I had no internet connection. Meaning, I want to keep things separate and decide on my own when using internet and when using sms.

The developers are planning a to implement an option to make the SMS have dark mode AFAIK.

      Hi @mobos
There was a similar question posted back in June on our issue tracker. For more information and cited references I included in my response there, feel free to check it out if you here:

@Reflux maybe correct on their answer as well, as I haven't been around for over a month. Perhaps the developer team had considered adding a dark mode to the AOSP bundled messaging app.

Thank you guys. I switched to simple sms messenger. It has the option to mark a message as read in the notification area. Dark mode is just an additional goodie. Probably I wouldn't have switched just for that.

qksms looks great but its last release was over a year ago. FWIW, I hope someone assumes active ownership of that project.
