  • Unable to upload video to Instagram PWA : video file not shown in file-picker

Vanadium seems unable to upload video to instagram .. but everything appears set correctly . .

Doesn't matter if I use Gcam, or GOScam to take the video ... even if I make the smallest resolution, and only 2 seconds . . . edited / unedited, 30fps, etc ... video format doesn't seem to be the issue

Using the PWA to select a instagram post it won't even see the video files in the browser file picker (happens in Brave too, so it's an OS level issue)
trying to post a story will show a video file in the selector, but once selected, just goes back to the main page, no error, no trying to upload the video, nada

Storage scope is enabled for the entire DCIM folder. I can see the files correctly,

I've tried with different permissions, no storage scope, etc ..

If I try to use Instagram to record the video ... it allows me to swipe over to the video camera, but when I hit the record button, it only take a single still image, no video.

I don't see this behavior on other roms, only Graphene ... what am I missing?

I also get only a blank screen in the PWA if I select the reels button (center button on the bottom) . . . not sure if that is somehow related since it is also primary video? If I select it, there is a slight ghost of a loading bar at the bottom, black screen that never loads. and no other buttons work. I have to close the PWA and re-open it.

Something doesn't seem right . . .

I've ran into similar problems with photo uploads across multiple apps, most annoyingly with an app that wants a photo to verify, but also Mull browser with google reverse image search, any browser or the instagram app with instagram, etc.

Having issues with Instagram as well. I cannot upload a photo or video. It picks it, then upon clicking share, the app crashes with no error. I am not using storage scopes either.
If I try to use instagram web to upload the photo in web browser, it does work no issues. A workaround, but not a convenient one.

I have not encountered issues with other apps. Snapchat works no issues for example.

uxisimportant It picks it, then upon clicking share, the app crashes with no error.

I believe that's a memory corruption bug introduced by Instagram app developers that is picked up by the hardened_malloc of GrapheneOS. You can work around this by enabling exploit protection compatibility mode in the app info of Instagram. You should then be able to upload photo and video to Instagram without the app crashing.
