brambler Unfortunately, happened to me again with the 2022121100 stable update.

Just FYI.
Absolutely the same experience on P6a, incl. the post update with "Optimizing apps".

It seems to be that the toggles get reset after each reboot now, at least on my 6a.

Unfortunately, I, too, experienced a reset again of all special permissions after the very latest update (2022121100). It appears that @sebastianha may be onto something, as I also think that this specific breakage may be affected on/off by certain things that are tweaked in each update.

Special permissions reset again after last update 2022121400:

  • picture in picture - all apps has access now
  • wifi management - all apps are allowed now
  • turn on the screen - all apps are allowed now
It would be nice to have at least provisionary toggle to deny all.

Unlike the last few OTA updates, no reset for me on 2022121400!

Now I can config that it is reboot related, not update related. It happened to me after a "normal" reboot.

On a new Pixel 7 Pro with 2022122700 "All files access" and "Install unknown apps" settings get reset after every reboot. Not randomly, consistent every time.

Interesting, but for me (P6a) the last two updates or recent manual reboots didn't cause any settings reset. At athe same time, rebooting after the update took a long time and battery during "Optimizing apps". Still can't find any pattern of when this happened.

Today's update (2023010300) has additional logging that should help find the cause of this bug.

I'm unable to reproduce this issue on my device.
I need someone who encounters this bug after installing today's update to send me a bugreport or a logcat:

I will mark this as solved for now. Keep in mind that according to the changelog:

fix upstream bug leading to AppOps being reset after reboot (may occur for users one last time due to corrupt state from before this update)

If it is not fixed this time, please let us know, but we may need another update to confirm.
