  • Plan B for GrapheneOS if Google Pulls Pixel Line?

I apologize in advance if this has been discussed ad nauseam in other threads.

I was wondering if the GOS developer team has discussed a Plan B in the case Google decides to no longer produce smart phones. I'm old enough to remember the Google's Nexus line of phones, then Google's decision not to produce smart phones, and the current steak of producing phones since the original Pixel. The way Google goes through products and services doesn't give me a lot of confidence they will continue their smart phone production long term.

Max-Zorin Google has promised five years of firmware support for phones on sale now, so even if they cancel the upcoming 7a et seq. there's a long time to figure something out. Meanwhile I suspect the GrapheneOS team has plenty of near-term things to handle, e.g., new phones, plus also a Pixel tablet on the way.

The team has publicly expressed willingness to work with OEMs focused on security and has negotiated some with at least one OEM.

I suspect at present this isn't an area where advance planning is constructive or even possible.
