Hi guys, after doing a system update on my Pixel 7 last night (on Stable), I have no reception on both of my SIM cards (both physical and eSIM). The build number is TQ1A.230205.002.20230330400. Is there anything I can do? it's quite urgent, I need my phone to do phone calls :D

I asked this question also on the Graphene chat room (https://app.element.io/#/room/#grapheneos:grapheneos.org), but no resolution yet.

Things I have tried:

  1. Airplane mode
  2. Enabling/disabling SIMs in settings
  3. Physically removing the SIM card
  4. Resetting network settings

I also tried creating a new user profile, but to no avail.

Amk I am not an expert! Here are some things you might try while awaiting one:

    • Go to a different place to see if you have a coverage problem
    • Collect some adb logcat output
    • Collect a bug report
    • Try a fresh/other SIM

    Does Wi-Fi calling work?

I'm on a P7 and the same version, no change for me. Have you checked Settings/Network & Internet/<sim in question> to make sure it's marked as enabled, preferred network type, etc?

Thank you for your responses. I will try to get the logs and paste them here.

@de0u , WiFi calling does work.
@Kottonballs , yes I did, I went through all the SIM settings.

The behavior of the phone is extremely strange. It looks like the problem is not with the hardware, but maybe with the operators I am using. Or the "reception towers" rejecting my device. After 24hrs of the update, I suddenly got reception (still being on the same spot). First just edge, about an hour later 4G. Went to sleep, put on Airplane mode and now I am again without reception.

In the chatrooms I got a suggestion to reapply the update via adb. @GrapheneOS , is this a possible solution?

I would definitely start with checking if the problem is a reception or a phone.
If you have a chance, pop your SIM card into other phone just to check, if you have a connection there.
If the connection is stable in other phone, you can investigate what could be problem in GOS or settings there.
If the connection is not stable, you would spare time with search and experiments in the phone's settings.

Reflashed the factory image. Didn't help. Flashed the official Pixel 7 image. Same result. The SIM card works on a different device. I have no idea how the phone would suddenly stop working like this.

Considering you're the only person to have reported this (as far as I know), you've tried resetting stuff, reflashed, SIM works in another phone, etc. there's only one explanation remaining: hardware problem. I'd have Google take a look at it.

Any update on what the issue was? I'm having the exact same problem with my pixel 7. I can text & call over wifi but not via the sim card. It's been this way for a month or 2 now.

sb123 Have you selected LTE-only mode or disabled 2G? Does your carrier support VoLTE? If they did but no longer do and you've enabled either of the aforementioned options, that would be explain why.

So the problem was probably HW-related. Until this very day, the device is still not working and can't fix it here in Czechia.
