Battery behaves here so it seems not to be a common problem. Maybe installed apps? Edit: Molly, VPN, ntfy ... to name a few.

Battery status is 100% excellent.

It is, with VoWIFI and VoLTE enabled, 2G is deactivated.

8 active apps/connections, but they are always active in the same way and as I told, yesterday and all the other days before, especially after the factory reset, absolutely no battery problems anymore, only after today's update.

I countered my battery drain issue, by disabling vanadium and other GrapheneOS apps that I don't require.
I have only three, third party apps installed, they have their own access to the internet, and don't need vanadium.
My battery longevity on an 8a is two, almost three days. Whereas with Vanadium its just about a day.
All remaining apps have been assessed for background data and background battery usage. If I feel its not required both are turned off.
The encrypted messaging and encrypted email apps pick up messages as they should, via Orbot.
Pixel batteries are hit and miss, I'm lucky I have a good one, so far.
Hopefully Motorola batteries powering GrapheneOS will show up how bad Pixel batteries are.

Thx for the hint, I also already disabled GOS apps which I don't need, now I disabled Vanadium and vanadium.conf too, never needed them, I use Firefox. Let's see if this makes things better.

Kamika242 Battery drain due to mobile network is currently a very common issue on stock OS as of March 2026. This is relevant, because we use the same modem binaries, etc. as stock OS. We don't have access to that code, so it's up to Google, the vendor, etc. to fix the issue in their code:

my pixel 8a showed a strong 5G signal.
I installed privacy cell from F-droid and it showed my 5G was nothing of the sort, it was an amalgamation of 5G and 4g, so my modem was talking to the cell tower via two different protocols at once, and always trying to find 5G whether it was present or not. I changed to 4G only and battery longevity increased.
I checked again with privacy cell and indeed 4G was the only protocol used.
I then deleted privacy cell, having no more need for it.

since around 2026030200 I see on my P8 an idle drain of 15 % (lowest, sometimes somewhat more).
before it had been 12 %

I have a new Pixel 10. It has Google play services and store enabled and Proton VPN and Mail etc installed.

The battery dropped from 100 to 91% in a bit over 24 hrs (with it being almost completely idle). I suppose that's good/ok?

I have notice that if I disable data & wifi and disable all apps I'm not currently using.

5G is garbage anyway,

Poor signal inside buildings
Huge battery drain, I have spare phones from other brands and 5G is always the main battery drainer, if I set up to use 4G/LTE as the highest available network I see a huge difference starting mid day, from simple to double
On average all brand mixed without 5G, 80% at noon, otherwise 50-60% with 5G on.
That's not a scientific fact, just my observation
