Attempting GrapheneOS install with less than requirements

I have an old Android device running supported Android version that is mentioned in the official documentation, but it is very low on storage < 32 GB and I want to use it to install GrapheneOS, have anyone tried installing GrapheneOS with a device that is low on storage, will it work?

I recently attempted to install GOS from a device with limited storage - it wasn't android, but a bootable Linux USB disk. The web installer simply failed to download the necessary files for installation, maxing out disk space before failing

horde Just to clarify, you are planning to use this old-low-storage phone to install GrapheneOS on a currently supported phone that you also have in your possession? Or are you asking if you can install GrapheneOS on the old-low-storage phone itself?

userofgos Yes, I will use this old device running android 13 (supported version from official GrapheneOS docs) to install GrapheneOS it on a Pixel 9.

horde That makes more sense. The only way to know is to try it and see if the installation succeeds or fails. Don't think anyone here can guarantee that your device will work except yourself.

So I think you can rest assured that it is safe to make the attempt - many others have used unsupported devices which failed to install GOS but did not brick the device.

userofgos Well my host phone that is right now obtaining factory images is draining battery very quickly, it was charging my pixel phone before booting into flashboot. Can I quit this step, go back and charge both phones to max then switch the usb-c cables so pixel the one charge host? Do I need to do the whole step again or I can continue if I kept my host phone on same page and charge it a bit then flash factory images?

horde Yes, in general you can interrupt/stop (at) any step safely (even the flashing part).
