  • [Feature request] Quicker Lockdown mode

On iOS, simply holding power button makes the phone enter lockdown mode.
On GOS, user must hold power button then check screen and tab on the button.

I know this sounds trivial difference, but this makes iOS better for emergency situations. For example, one can lock iPhone without bringing it out of pocket. Or when the iPhone is in a backpack, it can be locked while it's still in there.

Just to preface what I'm about to say: I don't know what the developers would say about adding this feature. I did some digging and couldn't find any mention of this specific feature. I'm just going to make an educated guess based on what I've seen developers say in the issue tracker and elsewhere.

Anyway, with that said, I don't think they'd be against it, but won't take the time to implement it themselves as they're busy with other things. However, if a developer that has contributed to the project before or another active community member writes their own well thought out implementation, it might be considered.

Adding a feature isn't a one-time thing. The code needs to be maintained as related upstream code is changed.

Ideally, Google should add this feature so everyone can benefit.

REALLY useful feature. Hope it will be put on the agenda soon.

For clarification here, all that lockdown mode does on GrapheneOS is disable biometrics for screen unlock.

In security terms, it is in no way similar to restarting the device to BFU.
