Pixel 10 Pro - Google Fi - Cannot Receive SMS unless I send one first.

I've just installed the available build for the Pixel 10 Pro. No issues there. I've got the Google Store, Play Services, and Google fi app installed and transferred my number to my 10 as an eSIM, from my pixel 8 pro, as a phsyical sim card. I can receive/send calls. and I can send texts just fine. However if someone tries to send me a text first, before I send one to them. I do not receive the text. Their phone reports a "did not send" or "failed to send" type of message. One even suggested my phone was offline. If after I send them a SMS, all messages they send me appear to be received just fine. I'm using the stock phone/contact/messages app from Graphene. I've also tried the google phone/contacts/messages app. No change. FWIW it's only been about 24 hours since I initiated this transfer. Does that matter? I've tried removing the eSIM, then clearing the cache/storage for the google fi app. Uninstalling and reinstalling the google fi app, and then re-registering my eSIM. this gets me back to the same state.
Additionally, Yesterday I did have one person send me a text that I did receive. but it took approximately 1 hour to come through. Today they sent me one and I received it almost immediately.

At this point I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try?

Do all of the relevant components have a battery usage exemption?

Lenard1717 do you have RCS working? It take some odd days for RCS senders to switch to sending as SMS. They can manually set it through their end but if they are like my contacts good luck. For RCS you need to give Google plays services phone and messages permission. Then use the Google messages app. Toggle RCS on and off then restart then wait a few minutes. After that though it works like a charm. This is advise especially for Google fi it can be a little different for other carriers.

To be specific the Fi app, and play store are set to optimized on both phones, and the play services are set to unrestricted on both phones. Is there another component I should check?

Klingerman01 I never got RCS working on my previous pixel. I just used the stock Graphene Messenger app. Do you think this is still relevant to my issue? I can attempt to get RCS to work but again, I never used the google messages app on my Pixel 8 Pro.

I am not a Fi user, but I can imagine that Fi would might be better off unrestricted.

@de0u @Klingerman01 Today I had the opportunity to ask approximately 5 people to send me a SMS before I sent one to them. Only to have everything successfully send and be received within a few seconds. I've made no changes to my phones configuration. So I guess I can call this solved, but I don't know If anything I tried had any sort of impact, or if it was simply a delay in the cellular network updating 'stuff'.
