WiFi Vs mobile internet, what is safer with VPN?

I think the title is self-explanatory.
I am wondering is it safer to use the internet connection via WiFi or via mobile internet from SIM card?

There shouldn't be any differences as VPN will basically put a "cone of silence" over connection which means that it will route all the traffic through VPN so in both cases the providers can only see that you made a secure connection to a VPN server but they won't be able to see the traffic.

dlb I think there's two reasons why WiFi is more private. First of all, you can use MAC address randomization to hide your identity from the WiFi network, whereas your identity is always known by the cell network provider. Secondly, cell networks are routinely used to track your location without GPS. While it's possible to do this with WiFi too, it's harder because you can change your local identity and you can also change your
public IP using a VPN.

Yes, this is exactly what VPN does - hiding your traffic so that the ISP will see gibberish instead of actual traffic.

Mulvad + obfuscation is the right choice then to be safer online. I think when they see that you are surfing randomly, You don't stand out from the mass.
But when using only VPN you stand out for sure. Obviously hiding something or protecting your privacy is what they hate the most. Thanks for the tips

The only way to hide your ISP from knowing that you are connected to a VPN is to channel your VPN connection through an additional bridge such as your own VPS server that redirects your traffic. This way the ISP sees that you are connecting to an a private VPS server. The ISP of the VPS server will see a connection to a VPN server.

Wifi VS Mobile: I wouldn't say either is safer. The difference is a different ISP sees your connection. Wifi generally has a physical location and potentially a "trackable owner". Mobile may not have a location, but has clear " unique owner", if someone really wanted to track it.

When using a VPN the only data visible is that you are connecting to a VPN. On mobile data its clear "who" is connecting to the VPN. Its "you".

On wifi its not clear "who", as many people can connect to a wifi. However if you are doing it at your own home then it can be inferred/deduced that its "you", and if you are doing it at your friend's or relatives' then it's "them" or someone they know.

So, wifi is more private.

Using vpn and wifi at a public place with a GOS phone is as good as it gets.
