What's the deal with releases on Accrescent?

Either way there's a new update now and Accrescent sees it, and I can click on Update, but after downloading, it sits there and does nothing no matter how long I let it sit. It just refuses to install the new update. I want to like and use Accrescent but it just does not seem to be there yet.

Hey, Accrescent dev here. I think I know what causes this and should be able to push out a bug fix shortly. The update is technically working, but it's waiting for the app you're updating to be "not in use" before installing the update so that it doesn't kill an app you're actively using. Accrescent should probably wait like that for only auto updates, not manual ones. The update will still eventually install though, so this isn't a reliability issue.

The aforementioned bug should now be fixed in Accrescent 0.28.1.

Accrescent is essential, and it is fortunate that non-open source applications are available. The aim is to offer an alternative to the Play Store, not to F-Droid or Obtainium, and instead of criticising it, it would be better to support this project.

Joe-FastFeet F-Droid and Google Play Store are available since 15 years and more, Accrescent is still very new on the scene and requires a lot of time and resources, this is the first time we have had a project that aims to become a serious, open-source alternative to the Google Play Store, you can help the Accrescent project by making a donation or contributing to the code, what do you hope to achieve by criticizing the project without reason ? As for the update issues, these were caused by unexpected bugs during migration to different servers and have since been fixed.

Joe-FastFeet It's a new project, so what do you expect, millions of apps available right from launch? Beyond the apps, you have to secure and maintain the infrastructure and servers, document everything and be transparent, manage costs and other things we don't know about.
F-Droid and Obtainium are good, but ultimately they are limited because they only support open source applications, and we are forced to use the Play Store to use other applications (my Google account is only used for the Play Store). Accrescent is here to solve this problem.

And as I’ve already said, Accrescent is still a young project — it’s only natural that there are few applications for now. F-Droid, which you praise so much, went through the same thing in its early days.
When the project eventually succeeds, in the medium or long term, in becoming a true alternative to the Play Store, I hope I won’t see you showing that ridiculous behavior of flipping your stance!

You didn't have to do the latter. You could've just switched to updating them from another source one by one when they receive updates.

Dumdum One of the advertised features of Accrescent is that it doesn't resign apps, and doesn't have access to the private signing keys of apps. So the apps are fully controlled by their developers, rather than Accrescent. That's why I wanted to point out that it wasn't necessary to uninstall them.
