I love this OS and recommended it to my acquaintances but those living in Asia have complained that they are unable to type in their native language. Indeed I can set the system language to those languages but not the input language. I looked for open source alternatives but was unable to find any. It seems that prominent open source keyboards including AOSP do not include support for CJK. Are there any alternatives? Does Graphene have any plans to bring CJK keyboards to life? I would really like to provide an option other than Gboard.
Keyboard Support for East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)
I live in a Chinese speaking country. I type in Chinese from time to time.
GBoard was pretty okay for typing Chinese. I don't want to use GBoard because I dislike it for typing English. I'm considering using it for Chinese and use another keyboard for English.
My other keyboard is Microsoft Swift Key (sp?). It's better for English, but Chinese typing is weird.
I have a similar request as @twist3459. I need to type Japanese, and would love to have this possibility implemented natively in the GOS system keyboard.
unwat I'm considering using it for Chinese and use another keyboard for English.
This is what I’m doing at the moment. I use GBoard for Japanese, and the system GOS keyboard for English.
I also would very much like this.
heck, I'll even contribute TL skills if need be, just shoot me an email or send me a github message and ill help however I can.
I've recently started learning Chinese and would like to be able to input pinyin (with the tones) but it seems that it isn't possible in GrapheneOS at the moment right?
