T-Mobile SMS/MMS not working (USA)

No messages come through unless it happens when a call is received. Here's what I've done so far.
1) Disabled all network filters (I used NextDNS)
2) Disabled WiFi calling (that's helped with AT&T issues in the past)
3) Disabled WiFi
4) Checked APN Settings, they look good but I cannot edit them.
5) Tried "Fossify Messages" in place of the stock included application.
This is a fresh install, yesterday. No root, no additions, just fresh flash and setup without any prior backups of any sort.

JimmyT Was the phone number previously registered with iMessages or Google Messages? If so then it is necessary to deregister.

de0u Not at all. Never used an actual Googled phone with it while on T-Mobile. Only open source messaging apps and no "GPS" requirements. Did find that I can get it working if I keep the phone locked on 4G. It will not work on 5G at all without a call coming in at the same time.

That is odd. Is that true even if you go far away (like 20+ miles)?

de0u Not sure what you mean by "go far away". Do you suggest that I should try this in another area? (as in ensure being on a different network tower). Messaging worked completely good on my e/OS device on the same tower.

Very interesting. I have T-Mobile and get messages spordically. I tried to turn off wifi calling, not sure if I did it correctly. I get text messages hours late sometimes when not on a call. I rarely get messages when I'm on a call, which makes verifying for banks entertaining, because it can take up to 5 minutes if at all.

It doesn't match your issue, but it may be related.

Yes.

That sounds like useful information. But, though it's not particularly likely, it is possible that something went wrong with local cellular infrastructure at roughly the same time as the GrapheneOS installation.
