Just want to echo that I am unable to download grindr from the place store as well with the "This app won't work for your device" message with gos on a pixel 6 pro.

I would just repeat steps that should work:

    1. install the google trio from apps with internet permission
    2. launch google play, grant it permissions, maybe log in
    3. install aurorastore from auroraoss.com to bypass OS block
    4. download that app, launch it. If not working step 5.
    5. stop it, clear all app data.
    6. If not working, try disabling a VPN, step 5.
    7. If not working, try enabling sensor permission, step 5.
    8. If not working, try enabling native code debugging, step 5.
    9. If not working, try disabling hardened malloc, step 5.
    10. If not working, try disabling exploit mitigation, step 5. (This should be avoided!)

If the app still doesnt work it may use Safetynet for whatever reason. Guide them to GrapheneOS attestation info.

Grindr still doesn't work even after all the fixes. During the login it says there was a problem connecting with Google Play Services for some reason. I lifted all of the exploits, gave google play services all the required permissions, installed app from google play etc. but it just won't budge. It was working fine few months ago but it suddenly stopped working for some reason.

Ok I might've found a solution to this problem by accident!

It took my few hours to get this done but it seemed to work. This is what I would see when I tried to login: https://snipboard.io/MRU0Ly.jpg and I finally got it fixed.

Before I explain what I did we need to change some settings first so we're on the same page. Maybe this could work for you before moving to the next solution so try this first and then move on to next step f it doesn't:

      - Go to Settings -> Location -> Location services -> Turn on both Wi-fi and Bluetooth scanning
      - Go to Settings -> Apps -> Sandboxed google play -> Turn off option "Reroute location requests to the OS"
      - On the same screen from above - go to Play services app info -> Permissions -> Make sure sensors and network permissions are on
      - Go to Settings -> Apps -> Grindr -> Turn off option "Exploit protection compatibility mode"

Didn't work? That's fine. It initially didn't for me too but this is what I have done to make it work (keep the changes made above):

      1. Uninstall Grindr completely from your phone first(!)
      2. Install F-droid if you haven't already
      3. Go to settings in F-droid: Settings -> My Apps -> Repositories
      4. Click plus icon below and add this repository manually: https://microg.org/fdroid/repo. This will give you access to apps like microG companion, services and Framework proxy
      5. Search for those apps in search bar individually, press on them and uninstall each and every one of them
      6. Go to "apps" application provided by GrapheneOS and install Google Services trio
      7. Go to google store and login
      8. While in google store - install grindr and try to login again in the app

Let me know if it worked for yall because it sure did for me

        Laggex Thanks for sharing!

On my side, the Play Store still won't allow to install the app. It's pretending that "this app won't work for your device".

I'm facing the same behavior with a public transportation app (same message displayed by the Play Store). Both started to be affected at the same time (mid-december 23).

alx Does it also happen when you install it from Aurora Store?

          • alx replied to this.

Grindr is a buggy hell hole of an app. I'm surprised that people cling so hard to that app, when there is alternatives 🤷

Laggex None of the two apps (Grindr or the public transportation app) is showing in the search result of Aurora.

hdishs I'll try but it seems you need to install Xposed which in itself requires root privileges

alx what about downloading .apk from apkmirror or something like that?

              • alx replied to this.

Laggex I do not trust those sites :) The APK could be altered in some way.

I had the Pixel 6a and couldn't install via Google Play because "app won't work" message.

The Pixel 8 installs just fine at first instance. Then I created a user profile and failed to install with "unknown error" after downloading via Google Play.

I then tried on Aurora Store. Failed:

                Invalid or corrupted APK
INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE: Downgrade detected: Update version code 124716 is older than current 125314.

I did a manual download with a version code 125314 and it installed fine.

I have no idea what just happened. Did it try to download an older version when a newer version is available?

hi, I have issues installing grindr on my pixel 6a
With a fresh installed google trio with permissions, logged in google play, tells me
"This app won't work with your device" and then I can't install from google play
                from aurora store it says
                "unavailable
App not available for your device"

                from aurora, manual download
                "download failed".

I've tried missing-root steps and @laggex steps without success

                any help is welcome
