I had the Pixel 6a and couldn't install via Google Play because "app won't work" message.
The Pixel 8 installs just fine at first instance. Then I created a user profile and failed to install with "unknown error" after downloading via Google Play.
I then tried on Aurora Store. Failed:
Invalid or corrupted APK
INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE: Downgrade detected: Update version code 124716 is older than current 125314.
I did a manual download with a version code 125314
and it installed fine.
I have no idea what just happened. Did it try to download an older version when a newer version is available?

hi, I have issues installing grindr on my pixel 6a
With a fresh installed google trio with permissions, logged in google play, tells me
"This app won't work with your device" and then I can't install from google play
from aurora store it says
"unavailable
App not available for your device"
from aurora, manual download
"download failed".
I've tried missing-root steps and @laggex steps without success
any help is welcome
I did manage to install grindr app by spoofing the device model in aurora store
cf. https://auroraoss.gitbook.io/wiki/troubleshooting-and-faqs/faqs/aurora-store
The profile creation get stuck though, the "save" button does nothing :-/
It took a long time but it finally works. Even with play store uninstalled afterwards

Grindr was recently exposed for brazenly trading users' location history to 3rd party data brokers and ultimately to law enforcement.

Stay safe out there everyone - if you have to use Grindr, use it carefully and with awareness of your privacy risks.
Grindr Web works for me, and so do its new message notifications. I've tested it in Vanadium, Brave, and Firefox. It only requires browser permissions instead of OS permissions, which is good from a security perspective. The only drawback is that it's only available to paid users.
Here is how I got the app to work, since Grindr Web was being flaky:
Install sandboxed Google Play. Do not give it location permission. It may need permission for sensors and nearby devices, not sure.
Turn on Google Location Accuracy
Make sure Bluetooth Scanning and Wi-Fi Scanning are both enabled (maybe not necessary, but should make Google Location Accuracy work better)
Go into the settings for Grindr, and set Play Integrity API to Blocked
After I did that, Grindr immediately stopped having trouble finding my location.
