Installed GOS on my Pixel 7 via the web installer. Installation was straightforward and painless, so long as you follow every step exactly. One 'gotcha' I experienced: check the "Enable OEM unlocking" setting after you do the pre-conversion update of the stock Android OS, as the update can reset that to 'disabled' (which is why updating is step 0). I found the web installer to be more forgiving of the USB port, etc., than what is listed; however, YMMV.
The phone is now a joy to use, as it isn't full of vendor bloatware, and I have far more control over what happens. While this additional flexibility entails a slightly longer learning curve, it's well worth the effort.
The best recommendation I can provide is that my partner, who is a technophobe, asked me to convert her Pixel 7 Pro after experiencing GOS on my phone.
Overall, well worth the effort and learning curve. I can't see myself using anything else from now on.
