I had an issue with an old keyboard called Hacker's Keyboard that would fail to type the rest of my password after a certain point but only on certain screens such as unlocking my work profile, unlocking my Wi Fi password screen to share my Wi Fi password, and unlocking my Private Space for example but I could luckily still unlock my phone itself with the same normal password using Hacker's Keyboard although even if I could not I could have temporarily switched to gboard for that specific unlock screen. I tried switching my password to a simple PIN to see if I could get the other password screens workimg but that did not work, I knew I was typing in the password correctly at least the vast majority of the time and especially after I changed my password to a 4 digit PIN to test. Finally after a bit I noticed that sometimes the password would just stop being entered after a certain point if I used a long password with my old keyboard but even when I switched to a 4 digit PIN I could see that all the digits were being typed correctly but the password was still not accepted on certain screens as being correct for some reason. The only thing that has consistently fixed the issue was switching to florisboard or using the version of gboard that comes with GrapheneOS but I don't like the lack of customization options from gboard so I won't use that.
As soon as I switched to Florisboard all the screens that ask for my password begin working as normally even though I was seemingly typing in the password correctly almost each time. This issue first began with android 15 and then some of the password screens began working again randomly after an update and suddenly my Work Profile unlock after not working for several months was working again. Now with the android 16 update I am unable to unlock my work profile, Private Space, and my Wi Fi password share screen unless I use a more modern keyboard than the old Hacker's Keyboard.
Have you been using an old deprecated keyboard by any chance? I was ready to do a factory reset bexause I was so frustrated because I wanted to use the Private Space feature and Work Profile etc but finally the fact that I saw after a certain number of characters my old outdated keyboard was only typing so much of my password that It made me think to try florisboard because I knew Hacker's Keyboard was getting pretty old and not keeping up with any modern features and even says that it may stop working at some point on their github page on modern android versions.
But yeah I just wanted to share this report which isn't an issue with grapheneOS but since many grapeneOS users like to heavily customize their devices, there may be someone else out there like me who was using an old or badly supported keyboard that is having somewhat similar trouble with some of android's password screens.
