My password, which I’ve been using for over eight months, is no longer accepted

Yeah, that might have happened too. It's less that I forgot the password (it's a previous long password from elsewhere) and more that the original one was typed wrong twice and got registered. However I do remember trying to enter again from that interface where it worked, so I'm really not sure.

I did that the last time I did an OS install on my computer. I tried to log in and realized after several failed attempts that when I had initially set up the password, I had caps lock on.

That's unfortunate. It's an easy mistake to make, because phone keyboards are naturally prone to typos and there is no way to show the password before committing.

I have installed a lot of GOS on Pixels over the last 2 years, and in the last few months, a few users have returned their phones because their passwords suddenly stopped working. I’ve already had to wipe four of them. If I remember correctly, all of them were Pixel 8a devices with a German keyboard (maybe one was a Pixel 8). But most of my user are german so it may not be a clue. All passwords were text-based and longer than 30 characters.

It never happened to me before.

sikode honestly i wouldnt really tell a customer to use a 30+ character diceware alphanumeric password. of course its going to be super secure, but i would worry that a lot of people arent up to writing down, remembering, and entering all that correctly every time, as youre seeing. i dont use anything close to that myself

Tbh its probably an end user issue rather than anything GOS could do, especially with 30+ characters. Iv mistyped my password into lockout before, freaked me out, but I always end up back in once I actually get it right.

Remove the back and disconnect the battery entirely, then reconnect and retry.

All the password were stored in a password manager and copied many time before. I had the same guess as you before but as more and more phone, same model, came to me with this same problem in a very short time frame and it never happened before it almost can't be a bad luck / memory problem.

Very weird situation. I have been using Private Space from long time. I opened it, put my password (only numbers), it opened, I used my apps inside, everything was ok.
After hour later, I wanted to use one of the apps there again but the password doesn’t work. I’m 100% sure that I put good password, same as always. What can be wrong? Is there any option to reset password? I have keypass inside Private Space… I have Pixel9Pro. I would like to add that now, after each try to put password, device goes into blocked (same as power button use), I have to unlock it via main password and again find way to open Secure Space and …again blocked…
